While on my quest to taste and rate the different Chinese restaurants in RVA, I stumbled across Hunan Wok. A small restaurant located in a shopping center within the town of Midlothian, it was one restaurant that I had yet to try. How did my experience go? To find out, read below. The Good:Price- Compared to a number of decent take out restaurants South of the James, this restaurant offers reasonable prices for its dishes. None of the dishes seemed terribly over priced. On the Fence: Taste- I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Wings and Egg Drop Soup. I typically use Chicken Fried Rice as a test to see if the restaurant can produce bold flavors. The food was not bad but there was nothing to separate it from places like Jiang's and Hunan Garden. The Bad:Portion Size of Chicken Wings- While the chicken wings were cheaper than other restaurants, they were also significantly smaller. Overall- I like the bargain at this restaurant versus others in the area, but to me the food does not stand out from typical Chinese takeout and portion size of the wings was disappointing. THREE STARS.

Ok. Last two previous visits, I was very disappointed. I decided to do delivery because of the weather. After ordering online using BeyondMenu website. After 40 min passed, I called the restaurant. After waiting on the phone for 5 min. I'm told "the system was broken and is fixed." Offered to deliver in 30 min. Decided to drive & pick it up. Only good thing out of all of this. The food was amazing. Will order again but not on website.

We were taking a day trip from Smithfield Va to the Richmond Zoo and stopped at this location for lunch. Friendly the moment we walked in ready to wait on you. Food selection was great and you can get a bowl which is 1 entrée and 1 side, a plate with 2 entrees and 1 side or bigger plate with 3 entrees and 1 side. Also a kid's meal with jr. entrée, jr. side and 12 oz. drink and cookie. They cater also. The calorie count is posted also. I got the grilled teriyaki chicken over chow mein and my husband got the orange chicken over fried rice. Everything was fresh and moist. Tables and booths clean along with the drink area. Lots of food. Price was about $14 with drink. Would go again. Look on hill near road in shopping center.

Although I used to come to Peking for a 'special' night out, I have only had their lunch takeout lately. It is quite flavorful, and a cut above the usual Chinese takeaways, but I can't help but wonder if their dinner menu has slipped a bit as well. I will try that soon, to have a more complete picture. Right now though, if one wants a good lunch, this is a good place to get it!

Living in Midlothian for 40 years & watching Chinese restaurants come & go, has been discouraging. Someone recommended C.C. Wok to us & we tried it tonite. WOW! This is the best Chinese food we've had in years. Everything is fresh & when my snow peas "crunch", I know that the food hasn't been reheated & served. The Szechuan Chicken had just the right amount of "heat", according to my husband. We'll surely return for more delicious meals! Kudos to Jason, the owner!

This is our go to place for Chinese take out, eat in, or delivery. Established restaurant who definitely has built a great reputation ever since Shanghai left the area... I've never had a bad meal here & now they deliver! Their lunch specials can't be beat! Pro-tip: if you Live or work in the area, get the lunch meals to go for dinner! Cheaper and a ton of food!

Most recent visit was w group for anniversary dinner ( 8 people ). Have dined here a number of times over the years and never had a bad meal. Food for group was fresh and piping hot. Had differing entree for each mrember of group.Have also ordered lunch for take out and is more reasonably priced.
