It also has its own Community Council. Until local government reorganisation in 1996 Helensburgh was in Dumbarton District and hence also in Strathclyde Region; prior to 1975 it was a small burgh with its own town council within Dunbartonshire. It lies on the north shore of the Firth of Clyde and the mouth of the Gareloch is close to the western boundary of the town.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Madarin recently for lunch: the food was beautifully fresh and delicious ...and the welcome was warm and friendly as always. This is our favourite Chinese restaurant bar none for sit- in and take-away. Highly recommend.

The large and extensive menu will suit all tastes. The Staff are so friendly and happy all the time. The orders are processed quickly and the food is delicious. I use the Lotus every 2 months and I have never had a bad meal.

Return visit and staff were friendly helpful and eager to please. Food was very tasty and portion sizes very satisfying. Loo was spotless - and management are clearly trying to make this venue a success in the face of considerable local competition. Our party enjoyed the experience and have voted for another return visit. Tip - the window seats with a spectacular view out over the river will add to your enjoyment.
Where to eat Bar food in Helensburgh: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Visited this carry out for a change as our usual carry outsfood quality had slipped. The Magic Wok has an extensive and mouth watering range of Chinese Asian food. They have a varied choice of meals, all of which should taste great. We had chicken chow mein and the taste was great, also had the Guiness king prawns, no complaints on these either.
Visited this restaurant a couple of weeks after opening. The owners I believe have owned other Chinese eateries in the area and have a good reputation. They have a good lunch time special menu which we ordered off. We were seated promptly, food came without delay staff were perfect. The food was quite good, especially the hot and sour soup. Defiantly worth the money. There was no facility at the time to pay by card but I believe that has been rectified since. I would definatly recommend it for a lunch time.
