This Ridgewood restaurant has the unusual advantage of being in its own freestanding building with its own (small) parking lot! Itâs also got the really genius combination of Chinese (and other Asian) food plus ice cream so you get the salty, non-dairy appetizers and entrees that characterize Asian cuisine plus you also get the sweet, cold dairy of interesting ice cream flavors and concoctions for dessert! The decor is self-consciously old timey diner-like and note that there are framed shadow boxes with real vintage toys in them on the walls. Depending on your age, theyâll either remind you of your childhood or be a curiosity. We have been coming here many years. This time one of our favorites, the warm noodle starter, wasnât as good as it usually is. The noodles had been cut up into two-inch lengths and the sauce wasnât its usual unctuous thick peanut sauce but rather a smattering of peanut sauce and some separating oily stuff. Not great. The broccoli stem salad was still addictive with its sweet/sour plus ginger flavors. The real star for us always (and thankfully still was this time) is the shrimp fried rice. The shrimp are juicy and perfectly cooked and the rest of the dish is flavorful and not at all greasy. Itâs real comfort food.Service was attentive and friendly. We didnât get dessert this time but I would encourage it if you havenât done so here.

This is one of those hidden gem type places. It's small -- only 3-4 tables, and no frills at all. The owner/chef runs the place by herself, with one person to help, and she comes out, talks to her customers, answers questions, tells a story or two, LOL.Simply put -- you go here for the food. Nothing else. No tablecloths, nice glassware or table settings, like I said, no frills at all. The menu comes off like the old-fashioned Chinese restaurant menu -- but it is not! Not at all. The owner/chef takes a lot of pride in her food. She cooks with passion and that comes through -- a lot of flavors, tastes, and you'll enjoy even the most "basic" of dishes. This place is well known for their dumplings -- and even more well-known for the mom's dumplings. Just get them. If you want very good Chinese food, with a lot of flavor and taste -- go here!

Situated in historic town of Ridgewood, Truly Sichuan is ranked as the most authentic Szechuan/Sichuan Chinese restaurant in Bergen county or northern Jersey by many patrons. It is elegant, welcoming, and, is a top choice for your special occasions or jus
The food was just ok.The good news is that the entree portion of the menu is decidedly different and reads more interesting than other restaurants of this nature. It just didnât deliver. It lacked punch. It was mediocre at best. The apps were all pedestrian. And, the service was terrible, and the place was empty. Go figure.

A group of 35 of us made a plan to eat here for lunch on Christmas. They have a nice private back room. We pre ordered a set menu. There was so much food. We started with chicken and corn soup. Then fried rice. Then spring rolls, scallion pancakes, and chicken. After that was bok choy, vegetables in garlic, beef and broccoli, vegetables with chicken, lo mein, and then fortune cookies and oranges. We were stuffed. The resaurant was packed.

My wife and I ordered dinner tonight from East Wok since it appears that our "go-to" Chinese take out place, Lin's House, has closed after about 30+ years in business. The fried rice and shrimp rolls were just ok. I give a lot of credit to the young Chinese girl who runs East Wok with a minimum of English, but still manages to keep all the orders straight.

Had takeout there tonight, not really a restaurant only 1 table. The food was fine we shared a garlic chicken with broccoli and a house lo mein. The service was quick and friendly.Located in a strip mall so parking can be tricky at times.

This Tani is the same Tani as listed under a slightly different name under restaurants in Glen Rock. Why is it listed twice? We had dinner here tonight. My wife loves this place but I'm a bit cooler to it. Tonight, a weeknight, there were very few unoccupied tables, so they must be doing something right. The dim sum items are just ok, but not as good as other dim sum restaurants we've tried locally. My wife loved the sushi pizza; I could barely choke it down. Free parking on the street in front. Service by young employees was fine.
