Fairfield Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Fairfield
My mom and I used to go to Pagoda every Friday night for dinner and enjoyed it immensely. The help staff is friendly, the owners are on site and hands-on (and also pleasant), and the food is great. Thinking back, I'm glad I was able to bring my mother--who's since passed away--to a place that she really, honestly enjoyed. The food is tasty and plentiful and economical, too. I haven't been there in a while but plan to return for old time's sake. Highly recommended!
If you dine-in you'll have a hearty sized meal that will leave you full and happy! Even take-out from here is superb and I've never ONCE had anything from Jin Juan that I haven't liked. They are consistent and always offer excellent service. Very nice staff and very clean facility -- I highly recommend.

In years past, our family gathered for a post-Christmas dinner at Jin Yuan because we enjoyed the restaurant. Never again. Our dining experience was poor on several fronts even though there were few seated guests. Where to begin? The waitress came the table and said she's bring water for everyone; 15 minutes later, the waters finally arrived. Later in the evening, when I went to pay the fare, she was fully engaged in texting at the wait station. This seemed to be the activity of the night because she was never to be seen in the dining area. When our meals arrived, we found that the proportion of meat to vegetables was surprisingly negligible. The Mo Shu Pork certainly had the Mo Shu, but the pork was hard to find. Similarly, we ordered a beef cashew where the green-and-red peppers outnumbered the total count on the cashews and beef. In fact, our experience reminded one of the Burger King commercial of last century with the question "where's the beef?" Our order of mother's chicken had more breading on the chicken than actual chicken, and the first two bites I took left me wondering where the meat was in the fried envelope. I could continue, but I think that you get the picture. Jin Yuan charges a few dollars more per dish for their entrees than other Chinese restaurants in Central Maine. For the "up charge," the patron certainly deserves both better meals and service. Not recommended.

Friends have been talking about Ming Lee restaurant for years. We finally got there for dinner. I couldnât believe the take out business. The whole time we were there I saw a line out the door to pick up their food. The service was excellent. The owner came over to our table to make sure we had a good meal. The food was flavorful and there was enough to take home. The cost was very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food.

The first time I went to Cheung Lee Express, it was for take-out. The restaurant decor itself isn't anything to write home about. Think Greyhound Bus Terminal, circa 1973, and you've pretty much nailed it. The food, though, is quick and plentiful. My first order was for Chicken Lo Mein, and I was NOT disappointed. They gave me a lot, and it was tasty and delicious. No complaints. Really, for an eatery connected with the Big Apple, this isn't bad at all. Compare Cheung Lee to Mei Dream. Though Mei Dream has a beautifully put-together stand-alone restaurant, it's always empty. That says something right there. Go into this little non-descript Chinese restaurant next to the Fairfield Big Apple, and it's quite a different story. Not so many people actually eating there, but the amount of take-out orders is rather surprising. Obviously, someone likes them. Since I used to live in Waterville, I was always afraid my food would be cold by the time I went up to Fairfield (4 miles, one way) and back again. I'm happy to report that's never been the case. If you want fast Chinese and certainly the best in Fairfield, look no further than Cheung Lee Express!
