We had our food delivered to our hotel room. We ordered 4 egg rolls and received 1 packet of duck sauce. The food was good, but we would have been happier with more duck sauce.

I was pleasantly surprised when I had lunch here recently while driving through Emporia. While I prefer spicier, Szechuan/Hunan style dishes, the shrimp chow mein lunch special (~$6) that I had was quite tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the meal freshly prepped. Not fast, but considerably better than I was prepared for. Service was also quite welcoming.

We eat at the Peking Express frequently. Food is always good and we enjoy the restaurant. We also use the delivery service. We use their internet web site as well. Food is prepared quickly and the restaurant is clean. The family that runs the Peking Express is very friendly.

The food was good. It was not outstanding, but definitely as good as most Chinese buffets in Kansas. Some dishes were more than average, and others just average. There was a fairly large number of dishes available including several sea foods, pork, beef, and chicken. The service, OTOH, is exceptional. Dirty plates were taken from the table almost as soon as they were empty. My water glass never got close to empty. The wait staff were attentive. It was a little later in the dinner hour. I saw a guest ask about a dish that was not on the buffet (all had been taken by guests). The person he asked went immediately to an apparent supervisor who went immediately to the kitchen. In a fairly short amount of time, I saw the dish arrive from the kitchen and the guest who had asked was informed that it was there.Price was $9.99 for Saturday dinner.
Where to eat Pub food in Emporia: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Located in the heart of downtown Emporia, Kansas lays China Dragon, a local Chinese restaurant. The restaurant maintains a constant, yet slow, buzz as customers come and go. China Dragon was previously known as the Chinese restaurant Ruyi, but with new owners came a new restaurant, and the change has been positive! The sharp, coordinated black-on-black waiter outfit, along with new wall decorations, more attentive staff, and a new, more authentic menu has transformed it into a more successfully rising, local restaurant. Although the restaurant is never full, it is able to maintain a buzz of customers because it is situated right across from the Emporia State Campus. With the semester breaks, comes dips in business, yet it has become popular enough around town to keep it thriving, even with four competing Chinese restaurants. As you walk in, a mixed aroma of well-seasoned noodles and the faint hint of soy sauce linger in the air. Lanterns are lit above each of the red leather booths that line the sides. Conveniently, the backs of the booth are high enough that you do not have to awkwardly avoid making eye contact with a stranger in the booth next door and purposefully provide an intimate setting. A series of unpopulated long wooden tables stand horizontally to the glass door and wall, giving the entire restaurant a coveted window-view of the main street. A number of carefully centered portraits line the walls above the booths and make the restaurant appear very organized, clean, and professional.I ordered vegetable fried rice without eggs. My main dish arrived faster than the appetizers in a main chain restaurant. The dish consisted of moist fried rice, steamed broccoli chunks, shredded and cut boiled carrots, sour baby corn, shriveled green peas, and crunchy watercress, generously dosed in soy sauce, and just enough onion slices that even an onion hater would not notice. The rice appeared to be brown whole grain, but a second glance revealed it was actually white, stained by the richly poured soy sauce. For those who like to experiment with a little more flavor, pineapple can be added for about a dollar more. Pineapple fried rice is a common authentic dish throughout Asia and this plate is fairly comparable to the food sold by local street vendors in Chiang Mai, Thailand. On a follow-up visit, I recruited two meat-loving friends who promptly decided to try two well-known delicacies, Lo Mein and General Chaos Chicken, while I sampled my all time favorite guilt-free lunch, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. Just as the name infers, a sizzling hot plate of broccoli is served drenched in a lake of garlic sauce. Served with a side of white rice, you will find yourself satiated with a dish still full of rice and four trunks of broccoli to go. The menu has two hot peppers next to Broccoli with Garlic Sauce on the menu, but I have an extreme sensitivity to spicy foods and found this dish to be mild with just a twinge of heat from the garlic. My friends thoroughly enjoyed each of their choices. The Lo Mein was a carb heavy dish with pieces of beef intertwined the layers of soft, thick noodles. The noodles are also gently adorned with strips of carrot, sautéed onion, and an occasional green pea. The General Chaos Chicken was served on a large plate decorated with broccoli around the edge, and sweetly smothered in a sauce of ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and peanut oil. The flavor of this blend of ingredients pops as each saucy piece of crispy chicken is placed in your mouth. During both visits I found the cheerful atmosphere of both the well-lit restaurant and the smile on the staffsâ faces to be contagious. From the first tug on the door, till the minute you step back through it, the staff have been very attentive, eager to please. When I asked for a straw, it was evident that they work hard to provide fast service as the waitress sprinted to the back and within seconds returned with a large grin and straw in hand. I was encouraged to take as much time as I needed to enjoy each dish and was greeted with refills on my chilled water along with continuous smiles for an overall refreshing meal. Additionally, the black pants and top the waiters wear give this restaurant a professionally polished look. During this review I was also able to compare portion sizes. The lunch special is offered for a large selection of the menu items but served as a âsmaller portionâ, accompanied by a choice of two crunchy eggrolls or crab Rangoon at a discount price. Emphasis should not be placed on the word smaller, however, because the size is practically, if not entirely, the same. With the addition of two eggrolls, lunch here is just as heavily served as dinner. This special presents a perfect opportunity for someone new to try the restaurant without breaking the bank or leaving with an empty stomach. Locally owned, China Dragon offers a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes. With a professional, clean environment, and decorations so carefully aligned that are no match for even the worst case of OCD, this restaurant provides a welcoming atmosphere. From crispy fried eggrolls dipped in a thick sweet-and-sour sauce to General Chaoâs saucy Chicken, you will not leave hungry or regretful, but indeed, the savoring aroma of cooking duck or the sweet scent of ginger may keep you coming back for more. With service that serves up food faster than the appetizer chips at a Mexican restaurant, and lunch portions as big as dinner, China Dragon is the perfect place for a meal out of the house.
