I took a chance because a group was raving to the desk clerk, and tried it myself... these guys were right. Fabulous foods and not just the standard eggrolls, fried rice, and sweet and sour, but also other takes on the traditional recipes, including a dessert of apple pie that included pineapple as an ingredient. So many choices that I could not try all of them and yet I am wishing I could stay longer in this area to try them again. Not the only China Buffet in the immediate area but definitely you should try this place.

I work not even 2 minutes away from the restaurant and order here for lunch and sometimes pick up dinner on the way home. They have some of the best Chinese food in the area. Their vegetables taste great, the General Tso's Chicken is never fried too hard and I love their shrimp rolls. I usually order that or the Beef & Broccoli but I need to try their American food; I've heard the chicken sandwich is really good. Unfortunately as I've found with many Chinese restaurants, their customer service is basically non-existent. I've never seen any of the employees smile, I don't even know if they have teeth. They are very short and rude when you call on the phone & usually don't have anything pleasant to say. I wish they delivered b/c when I want Chinese at night I really don't like coming here b/c the neighborhood isn't the best. However, I put up with all of this ratchetness because the food is really fresh and delicious.
Excel has good chinese food. The portions are good and they always have our order ready for us to pick up. Their Eggrolls are the best in town. It is very small, but if you wish, you can eat there, too. So, if you are looking for good chinese food, you should try Excel.

I have previously eaten at the Great China Buffet in Colonial Heights, VA, and did not have a good experience. I decided to give this buffet another chance on August 22nd and deeply regret my decision and based on my experience will not be returning to this restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant, I observed the waitress who was also the hostess using her phone. When she escorted me to my table she did not have the decency to put her phone away and stayed on her phone while walking to my booth. After tossing my silverware on the table and proceeding to the beverage area to get my water she quickly returned to using her phone. This restaurant is very dimly lit and I wonder if the reason for this is the owners are trying to hide something. I noticed that the carpet is dirty and had not been vacuumed. After I obtained my first plate of food I was utterly disgusted by the lack of taste in the items I had chosen. In addition, the food was not hot but was at best lukewarm if not cool. The service at the New China Buffet is horrendous. I had to ask for my water to be refilled by the waitress and my empty plates were not removed in a timely manner. I have seen zombies move with more purpose and motivation than the waitress who served me. Another issue is that some of the items in the buffet are not labelled. The teriyaki was dry and overcooked and the food items I tried were devoid of any taste whatsoever. There were very few people in the restaurant and now I know why. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Great China Buffet.
At first, we ordered the special combination that includes the pork fried rice and egg roll. We ended up throwing away the egg rolls a few times. The egg roll tastes weird. I've never tasted egg rolls like this. Therefore, the regular order without the egg roll is fine for me.One more thing - all sauce taste the same lol

Lucky Garden has an exceptional buffet for the modest price of $5.75 per person. This is by far the best deal in town and the quality of food is excellent. There are approximately ten entrees to select from as well as two types of soup and the most delicious tea this side of the James. Be sure to stop in next time you are craving Chinese food. I can promise you, you won't go away hungry. Visit Joann's other restaurant in Prince George, the Terriyaki Grill. Wonderful food at reasonable prices.
