Red Tiger Dumpling House

I love this place. Might be the best Chinese restaurant on Long Island. The soup dumplings are outstanding. The spicy pork, scallion pancakes are delicious. The Spicy Flounder Hunan style is fantastic. Service is great and the prices are reasonable. Did I mention that I love this place?

One of my favorite take out places on the island. When I worked nearby a few years ago I was a regular customer there. Recently I new I would be nearby so I planned going there for lunch take out.The house special soups come with about 15 options, and then some. You get a choice of noodle, choice of a dumpling, shrimp, chicken or won ton, then seafood, beef, pork or chicken. Its easier than it sounds. The 15 choices is actually much bigger, but keep it simple, look at the menu.Great place!

Tao's Delicacies

We read previous reviews and found them closed for renovations. (which usually means closed permanently) however, we were happy to find them open in February. We loved what we ordered, but we're used to American Chinese food, and were not brave enough to take a chance on something exotic. We loved the simple things we ordered, but we probably missed something great. Almost all the customers were Asian, and looked like they were enjoying what they ordered. This place should be reviewed by someone more knowledgeable.

Sometimes you just have to eat something different, and Yao's DIner on Middle Country Road in Centereach, NY offers authentic Chinese food that is tasty and unique. Hand ripped cabbage and Eggplant with garlic sauce are just two dishes that are delicious and different. Double cooked fish with a spicy tang and Chicken chow fun made with homemade noodles are always a welcome change from the ubiquitous Long Island pizza or Americanized Chinese take out. That being said, Yao's has some other unique aspects that are not so palatable as their food. In summer, it is incredibly hot since the restaurant has no air conditioning nor does it even have a fan. So not only do you sweat from the hot and spicy food but from the external heat as well. Yao's serves no beverages other than warm water or soda. The tea they put on the table is always luke warm. I do not know if they drink it that way in China, but it ends up simply being a tasteless liquid to wash down hot peppers. Although , they do smile, the wait staff speak no English . I do not say that they have to speak English like an Oxford don, but it is unsettling to me when I am trying to place an order and the waiter takes his time trying to figure out the word chicken from the word, beef. The restaurant is small and the food comes quickly but you have to ask for a bowl of rice for some reason. The food is also expensive.A plate of double cooked fish was $16. The cabbage nearly $10. So plan on spending some money. In addition, they only take cash! A decided inconvenience given the fact that the bill is usually pretty high. They have been in business a few years now and should realize that people like to use their credit cards, particularly when dining out. The wait staff is also , well frankly, weird. At my last visit, I , admittedly, did not leave a generous tip. When I eat out and give a good tip , I want to feel like I got exemplary service and attention. So it was with some surprise that as I got in my car, I saw the waiter waving from the restaurant door and walking to my vehicle in order to tell me in his barely comprehensible English that my tip was not high enough!!!! Because I was embarrassed, I dug in my purse and gave him a few dollars more, but I felt this was an unabashed violation of proper business etiquette. It wasn't as if I didn't leave a tip, the waiter just felt it was not enough and was chasing me down to make it up. The last time I looked, tipping was not the law in the United States. I felt terribly misused and will not return to this restaurant again of course. It is a shame because the food is not bad. Given that most of the workers are likely foreign students attending Stony Brook University, a course in manners should be made mandatory. Maybe those interested in Yao's cuisine can just do take out!

No.1 Chinese is the best in our area. They use very fresh and high quality ingredients. Specifically, the chicken is of premium quality and when I order steamed chicken and string beans, I can tell the ingredients are excellent. The kitchen is clean and the food has never disappointed.

My family enjoys the Chinese food at this restaurant. They have changes personal and have become a more friendly and or courteous behind the counter. I do believe they should make the place a little more attractive when you eat there. That's why we just take it home. The wonton soup, chicken and broccli are our favorites. Steam dumpling too.

This is a typical strip mall Chinese restaurant. In all honesty I stop here about once a month to grab some food between jobs. Today there was an ammonia smell as the person behind the counter was wiping down the tables with some type of disinfectant spray. Thus far that is good as I like clean. When I ordered she still had her gloves on and reached into the fridge to grab my food to place in the fryer-disgusting.Sorry, but if that is visible I have to wonder what else is happening behind the scenes in this place.

Wow! My daughter took me here and at first I was like" where did you find this place as I pulled up on a side street" well what can I say the food was real authentic Chinese food. Delicious! I will never go to any other Chinese restaurant. Small place but menu has so many choices! The decor is perfect! Brought home left overs and even my husband said "wow" . The staff were very nice too! Well what a surprise we have been there twice even though we live further east on the north shore! Just yummy! League of legends is the place to go. No general tsos! Regional Chinese cuisine
