Established by German immigrants in 1853, this is now the key port, transit and business hub of the Lakes District – a good place to replenish supplies, pick up Chilean crafts and get an urban jolt before moving on to more pristine pastures. If you're in the mood to sample some of the famous local salmon, the Angelmo harbor market should be your first stop. From there, it's a short boat ride across to Tenglo Island for views of snow-capped volcanic peaks. Santiago is a two-hour flight away.

Visited this restaurant for lunch as part of a large group. We had pre-ordered our main course. A very good three course meal was provided accompanied by a cocktail and wine. Service could not be faulted and prices were reasonable.

This is a great steak restaurant. The steaks are enormous and tasty and the chips were good too. It doesn't open until 8.30pm in the evening so wasn't very busy when I was there as unlike most of South America I was still on UK time and couldn't wait! The service was great, would definitely go back.

We greatly enjoyed our time and meal here. I was somehow expecting something more formal, but its best described as a 'family restaurant' - that was certainly the vibe when we went.Service was slow-ish at times, but we were enjoying ourselves so much it was only inconvenient once.Steaks and wines all very good, except one steak that came out under-cooked from the order; the person decided to accept it. Prices were reasonable for the quality.I'd like to go back.

Pasta and Seafood Restaurant in the area of Puerto Montt , you can find a variety of dishes fine processing, fresh pasta and good quality . Cozy and very good care place .
The restaurant was one of the only places open we could find. I am so glad we did. Despite being dirty for motorcycles on the Careterra Austral, the owner welcomed us warmly. Try the Caldillo de Congrio - Conger eel soup - for a classic Chilean dish. Gave us some extra bread for the next morning at our camp. Muchas gracias.Hope you have a great dinner! have a nice trip! thanks for your comment!

Location on the water of Puerto Montt bay. A warm welcome from the owner, a Chileno-Argentinian with some US connections.Seated by a window overlooking Puerto Montt bay, we enjoyed the sopaipillas, a delicious non-sweet version of this traditional pastry. They took our order for meat â if you want beef, you choose from three cuts â filet, sirloin strip, and another â then indicate the size you want, which is cut at tableside. It is cooked in the center of the room over coals. We also ordered potatoes and a Chilean salad (tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, and coriander). We then ordered a bottle of Casa Silva 5 Cepas Reserva, a very nice blend of cab, carmenere, and three other grapes. Before we could get very far enjoying the wine, the meal was served. The steak was excellent and cooked just right. The boiled potato was not much more than a place filler. The salad was good, and would have been better if the tomatoes had been truly ripe. We finished the meal with a key-lime-pie like dessert, really quite good.My advice to others would be to ask for a delay in preparing the steak and serving the food, to allow time to enjoy some wine and conversation first.

This place is on a nondescript street and the restaurant itself could use a little updating (although maintains an aura of faded glory). That said, they know how to cook seafood, which is probably what you want in a restaurant in Puerto Montt. If they have the machas parmigianas, order it: it's more like a soup than what's typical for the dish in Chile, but it's fantastic. Also get a fish in aurora sauce stuffed with seafood. Delicious. In fact, I'd ask for recommendations. Wine prices are reasonable, and they usually throw in a few free tasting items. I would return.

On our way to puerto Varas, we ran into this steakhouse. The service was very warm and so was the food! The Cebiche was one of the best I've eaten and the meat was out of this world. The chocolate mousse ended the meal and the check was very reasonable. Recommended!

We visited this restaurant tonight based on the reviews here on tripadvisor. We were certainly not disappointed. It's style is that of a small Parisian neighbourhood restaurant: the daily menu on a chalk board that is brought to your table and a three three-course set menu (for 12k pesos) with three dishes to choose from per course. The food is great: perfectly prepared, creative, perfect portion sizes, friendly staff and the most incredible view of that Puerto Montt bay. As far as flavors and combinations go: this chef can certainly cook! What Borago is to Santiago is this place to Puerto Montt - at least in our humble opinion. Is there room for improvement: sure. The biggest issue we had was the incredible speed at which everything was served. We would have liked some more time in between our dishes. And matching wines by the glass would have been perfect, but I do realize that that is not (yet) commonplace in Chile. So do visit! One word of caution: they don't speak english - not a single word. But that shouldn't be a problem, they are patient and we could understand the menu just fine with the little spanish we know.
Nuevo local de carnes, con una buena parrilla. Menú variado en cortes. Excelente carta de vinos. Precios algo elevados. Buena atención y un lugar muy amplio. Recomendado
