This is actually a Lowenbrau Keller and restaurant - which we visited in October 2016 - there is seating outdoor and indoor. When we visited the weather had turned cold and everybody headed indoors. As with a typical Lowebrau - the beer was excellent - I had the Dunkel beer (black beer - excellent) and my companion the standard beer.we decided to stay for dinner - beware the menu is only in German which wasn't a problem as my German was OK to decipher. My companion had the Schnitzel - a generous serve with vegetables (rather than just chips) - the serving was large and the veggies done well.I had the home made white wurst - and what a treat that was - try it - you will like itThe service was friendly, fast and efficient - only one waiter that night could speak English - the rest only spoke German - but we managed to get through what we wanted and order in German OKThe restaurant also has a menu for childrenWell worth a visit

Love everything about Wernigerode including the many restaurants. I often struggle with what to order due to my poor German language but the owner was helpful and I settled on "Lucifer's lunch" (a hot beef dish with delicious gravy) whilst my wife settled on a chicken salad. Both meals were substantial and reasonably priced. The ambiance of the restaurant was cosy and warm with a witches (Hex) theme evident in the restaurant decorations. Well worth the short walk from the main square.

Well ... this restaurant was recommended on Tripadvisor, but our experience was really disappointing unfortunately. While we agree with most of the other reviewers on the nice atmosphere (the walls were plastered with old newspapers), our food was below average: tough meat with hardly any taste, WAY too salty sauce and undercooked potatoes ... My vegetables were clearly not fresh at all and covered in something unpleasant. To make things worse: my wife felt sick until 12 hours after her meal.Maybe it was just bad luck, but we imagined something else before we entered this 'little paradise'.

Service was quick and friendly. The location is also good. The liver was well done coming with onions and mashed potatoes. The mash was home made, well done.

We chose the restaurant predominantly due to the kindness and personality of the young Ukrainian waitress who took our booking. She also served us and was a delight through the evening. We chose the sharing Tapas for two. The dishes were excellent varied and good quality. A lively attractive place for the evening. ..

Restaurant has a certain ambience, well furnished and comfortable. Menu is a fine selection of local food, well prepared and presented. Service is smart and very professional. Attention to detail is obvious, with fine place settings and glassware.

Our first visit to this relatively new restaurant located 200 metres from the Town Hall square. Blessed with good weather, my wife and family (four adults) sat outside on chairs that were not so comfortable and with a table perhaps on the small size. Nevertheless, the freshly cooked food was outstanding - delicious, great value, and exceptional friendly service despite our lack of the German language. As with the title of the review, I was blown away by my meal - never had chicken coated in coconut breadcrumbs before and with a curry sauce, the combination was probably one of the tastiest meals I've had. Would highly recommend you give it a try.

This is one of the best German restaurants I have ever visited. Especially their soup Soljanka is amazing, but all we ate there was well prepared and delicious. We also appreciated very friendly and communicative staff. They made our evening in Wernigerode unforgettable.

We ate dinner here twice during our stay in Wernigerode. Excellent food and service on both occasions. Nice outside terrace on the main square and a smart hotel restaurant inside.

WOHNZIMMER RESTAURANT.
We were on holiday for 3 days in Wernigerode and we reserved a table through the internet on 29/01/2014. The restaurant looked OK, and that's it.The waiter gave us the menu card but we already reserved for the 7 course menu so we did not need to look into it. They offered a winesuggestion but when we asked what this was the waiter said white, rosé and red wine. We said that this was OK for us. Soon came the appetizers but we never got the opportunity to ask for an aperitif. This aperitif was offered for free in the touristbrochure which was clearly visible on the table but the waiter didn't move. The menu was some what strange, serving cold cucumbersoup in a hotplate when it is -10°C outside?? Trying to impress by making tasteless icecream with the help of "dry ice"?? And you really got just 1 glass of wine of each colour, no refill and no idea what kind of wine as they never showed the bottle. The most embarrising was in the end when I was told that this "classy" restaurant did not accept creditcards, only EC card. The international standard has changed meanwhile to Maestro but not in this restaurant. So I had to go out, leaving my wife alone to find a bank. And really find because again the waiter did not even made a small effort to show me the nearest ATM.Back in the restaurant I had to sit at the table in my coat for at least 5 minutes because the waiter was to busy talking to the other 2 guests. There was also a girl behind the bar but we had no idea what her job was, probably decoration. Really a disaster, and the cook remained safely in the kitchen all the time.
