Reviews on Central European food in Weimar, Thuringia, Germany. Weimar was quite the intellectual hotspot back in the day, with Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Lucas Cranach and the Weimar School all spending time here. Goethe groupies will enjoy visiting his home, his tomb and the museum dedicated to him. If you’re in search of great food, visit during the Weimar Onion Market, held in October. (Just don’t forget your mints.)

We went in to have a beer and decided to eat here. How lucky we did. The food was excellent as was the service. My husband's calves liver was superb as was my selection of bruschetta. It proved to be one of the best meals we had and it was our first nightVielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung!Wir freuen uns, dass es Ihnen bei uns gefallen hat.Bis bald!

Tucked away in a side street just metres from the Goethehaus on the Frauenplan Square, this restaurant specialises in wholesome, largely vegetarian dishes. We had the dish of the day (Tagesgericht) which was great value at 7.50 euros and included a bowl of salad from the extensive salad bar. The actual dish was smoked salmon on a kind of rösti base, nicely garnished. The soft drinks are reasonably priced, and a good meal was had for a total of just 9.70 euros. Recommended.

The history of the Residenz-Cafe: The Residenz-Cafe has an over 160-year-old tradition in Weimar. This makes it the oldest remaining coffeehouse of Weimar. Although the history of coffeehouses in Weimar began 100 years prior to its founding, the history o
Pretty solid breakfast for reasonable money. Nice athmosphere not only in the morning.....you should try to avoid high season because it is packed with tourists..... Make a reservation or be just lucky. Would recommend it for breakfast and drinks in evening. Food for dinner is ok but there are better places on Weimar to have dinner.

Quick meal. Great service and interesting menu. I had never had Kangaroo meat before and wasn't expecting it on a menu in German (slightly strong beef). Staff were cheerful and the home made pasta was tasty.

They do their best to prepare the meat well. However, we'd like to see some more vegetables and less meat on the dish - our ecological footprint!). Well presented, but not fine.

We are there fairly late after a concert. They were happy to serve ( other local places had closed kitchens) and will serve until late. The main food on offer is typical local food, variations on different meats with red cabbage/ sauerkraut and dumplings. Good beer as you would expect. Generous portions . Rustic atmosphere. Just what we wanted!

I had not expected to be so amazed by this little restaurent. Between old bottle, paintings from around weimar and the un countable tee pots lies a ambiance unique. I had superb meal, traditional food done perfectly. The service vas AWSOME. The owner has this garlic liquor that he makes himself that is really good. I recommend it if you want to eat a good home meal. I will definitely go back as soon as I can.

This is one of my familyâs favourite restaurants in Weimar. Quality of the mainly Thüringen-based dishes is consistently good, the service usually good, though sometimes a bit slow. So if you are looking for an authentic down-to-earth place to try Thüringer Kloesse dumplings or something else from the region, check this place out. Do not expect high-level cuisine and service, though. I do advise to book a table in advance and not to shy away from the hilarious dumpling-offering doll outside...

The place is run by a couple who give personal attention to each and every customer. The food is meticulously prepared and presented, care taken for every detail. The taste matches the ritual. Take your time to enjoy, the food deserves it.They also serve and sell their own made liqueurs, do not miss that, particularly "Tango Mango".We were lucky to get a table, did call just before the visit. You should not take chances, so book ahead.
