Been in there many times with friends, my boyfriend. It is always amazing. The food is adorably homey, it really gives you a warm feeling of mother's cooking. The gin and tonic selection is incredible, also other cocktails, wines and beers as well. Recommend it for any occasion !

We started off a bit on the wrong foot as they couldn't find our booking and seemed flustered, and I was flustered because I didn't see why it mattered given that they had many tables available. Things improved from there. Someone helpfully explained the entire menu (which was in Dutch!). We settled on mussels nature, which came in a huge traditional pot with frites and sauce. We also had the shrimp croquettes and one order of bread with herbed butter. Everything came out at the same time and was fresh and delicious. The mussels weren't the best I've ever had - I thought the broth was too salty and too oniony - maybe the could have had more options (there were two - nature (the one we took) and garlic and cream. But they were good, and it was (almost) season, so we were happy with the choice. The rest of the food was fresh and delicious too. With drinks, I think it came to around 55-60 EUR. Very reasonable. And one of the server spoke Spanish (which my husband also speaks) - this simplified things as English wasn't getting much traction. A nice location with free 1.5 hour parking. Recommended!

....but it is a great place with one of the best selections of Scotch I've seen for a while. After about 90 minutes standing outside in 15-20mph winds during the Zeeland liberation commemorations it made a great retreat. The restaurant wasn't open but the very helpful staff directed us to somewhere that was.

For diners who may be skeptical about eating in their hotel and who may want to explore Middelburg, this restaurant has excellent dishes served in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere by charming staff and with a very extensive wine list. What more would you want after an arduous day on the beach. If you book ahead, try to get one of the booths by the window. Our stay included Saturday, when they have a buffet, yet we still chose to eat from the main menu as we preferred the choice of dishes and we were very satisfied. Prices are comparable to good restaurants in town too - no price hikes for captive audience.
