It's a typical Austrian restaurant and whenever i've been there the food was brilliant. They do old style food in a way my mother and grandmother did. You have to try the stuffed chicken (great) and the roast pork.

Our hotel had suggested we visit the S'pfandl and it lived up to the recommendation. The evening was cool and we were directed to an upstairs room that had two armour clad knights at each end watching over the diners, maybe to ensure no one left without paying :-)We requested an English menu but were told they did not carry one which is a pity as I am certain we would not be the first or last English speakers to visit. Our food was excellent, yes maybe a little slow in arriving but we were in no rush and when it did arrive it provided total satisfaction. It is clearly a very popular venue as every table was taken and all appeared to be local people rather than tourists. It must be said that eating here is not a cheap option but it is in Austria and after visiting Hungary and Romania every thing is much more costly.

We, well I, decided to eat here as the Italian restaurant we planned to visit was closed, and this place brews it's own beer. The beer was very good, the food was decent Austrian food but the usual fare. We sat outside at the end of the row, upwind from the smokers so it didn't bother us, but smoking in restaurants is a major problem is Austria if you don't enjoy a fag with your schnitzel. This restaurant is no different from most of the others.

We came here for family lunch. Overall very good food, and good service.Only the coffee was cold, which was a shame.

We had no reservation, and the waiter gave us the last open table. This seemed to be a concern to the owner but he shook it off. We had snitzel, lentils and lamb sausage and deer. It was all good. Very attentive service. The wine list is the largest I've ever seen. You should have a look even if you don't order from it. Dinner for four was about 200 euro including a 60 euro bottle of gruener veltliner.A highlight.
