In Mád, in the heart of Tokaj-Hegyalja, life is about wines in our restaurant. Our dishes are inspired by wines, and terroir is expressed not only in wines but also in raw materials. Our mission is to arouse love and respect for top quality white wines of
I do not understand what this restaurant is trying to accomplish.None of the 8 dishes order resembled Hungarian food. Possibly they are trying to create a new modern Hungarian cuisine. They fail on this account. The wines from the region were excellent, not the food. Service was spotty.

This being our second trip to Mád we knew that this would be our "go to" place for lunch..One could make a great meal out of the house patés, rillettes, chutney ,pickled veggies as well as their plates of excellent mangalica ham and local cheeses.. The house baked bread is also delicious. Just add wine of which they have many wonderful bottles.....For the mains we had the duck leg which was very nice and the fried chicken ,which was really panko breaded rather than the batter fried we know in the USA... Anyway, the potatoes with parsley and lots of butter were a big hit with the Poles at the table... Good locally sourced food ,capable kitchen and affable enough staff makes this one of the better places to eat in the Tokaj area. Dog friendly too!

Had a good dinner with a nice bottle of DisznókŠwine, all for a reasonable price. This was one of the few restaurants in the area open on a Monday night. We walked in without reservations toward the end of the evening. There was a large wine tour group (?) taking up the front room, but we were quickly seated in the back. I was concerned that the service would be slow with the large group, but the service didn't suffer. I had a roast duck while my wife had a fish stew. Both dishes were done nicely. Unlike some of the other reviews, our serving sizes were ample.

Once you're in Tokaj, take the time to visit Tarcal and Mád. Percze is a complex 'wine experience centre' in Mád and boasts a decent restaurant. Local ingredients, short menu, carefully crafted meals and second-to-none hospitability. Easy-going yet stylish. Local white wines, remarkable aszú selection, local craft beer (bottled), credit cards are accepted.

Maybe it doesn't look inviting, especially off the season, but food here is really tasty and fresh. Servings are quite big and prices are low.

We just needed somewhere quick to eat. There was a crowd outside when we arrived and thought it would have reasonable food. However the food was poor. Slow service. Starter came after mains. chips served Luke warm. No salad just limp lettuce. Goulash was okay.
