This restaurant was a great find! Buzzing on a Saturday night, reservation recommended although we managed to find a seat.Very friendly and fast service, wide menu and great prices. Most mains are between â¬10 and â¬14 (very large portions!) with drinks under â¬3. Total bill for two gyros and two pints of beer came in at under â¬25. Highly recommend the gyros "nach Art des Hauses".

My wife and, accompanied by two dogs, ate in the Douce restaurant of the Hirshen hotel. The restaurant is bi-cultural (French/German) and offers an outstandingly light cuisine based on super fresh, quality products. Service is warmly welcoming and very friendly and the wine list features a broad selection of local and other (mostly French) wines. One minor criticism: we felt that the individual dishes of our 5 course menu could have had more differentiated tastes. Alternatively, it could have been that, used to more highly spiced food, we missed the some of the subtlety of the tastes on offer. In any event, we give the owner, the chefs and the excellent service presonnel the benefit of the doubt! Viator Coloniae.

Having had one or two disappointing experiences with Michelin-starred restaurants, we went to this one with an open mind. We needn't have worried though as it was delicious from start to finish. The restaurant is part of a 'gasthof' which is situated in a small village. They do have a pretty little garden but, unfortunately, the weather was wet and cool when we went.We opted for their set menu and asked for wine recommendations which we enjoyed and which complimented the food well. It is quite a small restaurant, and the atmosphere was very convivial. Attractive paintings, lots of light-coloured wood and white linen make the restaurant light and airy. Service was efficient and cheerful. As can be expected at a Michelin-star restaurant, this was not a cheap meal, but worth every penny. A lot of hard work and imagination had gone into the preparation of the delightfully fresh ingredients. The food was beautifully presented with lots of colour, texture and flavour, and we made the most of our three-hour dining experience taking in and enjoying everything going on around us. We would definitely go back, perhaps next time for a lovely sunny lunch in their garden.

The food was fresh, tasty, and portions large. As well, the staff was very attentive and helpful. The weather outside was cold and bitter, but a dinner at Dipiu made us feel a lot closer to the mediterranean.Thank you

This restaurant is just how you imagine a German restaurant should be- very traditional and homely. The food is excellent- I can thoroughly recommend the Hirschragout mit Preiselbeeren und Spätzle (venison ragout with cranberries and a flat German noodle.)Definitely worth a visit.

The Fauststube restaurant in the Hotel zum Löwen in Staufen, was once home to the legendary Doctor Johann Georg Faustus, and today is a gourmet-restaurant. In the centre of the historical old part of town, the chef here welcomes his guests with a fine sel
We didn't speak much German but the staff were extremely attentive and understanding - even taking the time to help us during peak tourist season in summer. The choice of local dishes were super and tasty. We soon learned the local speciality, Pfefferlingen wild mushrooms. Boy, they cooked up a storm with them, served with spâtzle noodles. The wine list was also good value. Although I'm a white wine fan, I'd suggest you try their excellent reds.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal earlier this week at the Kreuz Post. The service was a little slow but I believe they had a large party to attend to in another part of the hotel. The quality of the food definitely made up for the slow service. We waited quite some time for a warm chocolate tart for dessert - absolutely worth waiting for. My husband's sister is a pastry chef and I can say without a doubt, the pastry we had at the Kreuz Post was second-to-none. Would definitely recommend eating here if you are in Staufen.

Visited Lowen which is situated in the Basler StraÃe on our last night as we wanted something light to eat. As it was threatening rain we ate inside and it is a very modern style restaurant inside. We both had Tagliatelle with Salmon, along with a couple of glasses of local red wine. Finishing with a tea and coffee, a very reasonable 29 euros. We would definitely return.

I stayed at this hotel and when I did a search, I was surprised to find the restaurant in the hotel was the highest rated in town. I had dinner there and it was awesome. It was there price fix menu and had a wonderful shrimp appetizer and monk fish entrée. It was incredible. Well worth the stop if you are in the area.
