This is the Austrian style restaurant in the Alpenland hotel. Normally I would avoid a hotel restaurant like the plague - too many years in sales, trekking up and down the motorway in my Ford Sierra, staying in anonymous forgettable chains. But it's a nice hotel, rather better than the rep places I used to stay in. Most of the residents are families on holiday rather than reps, though there are a few obviously here on business. Every night is a special menu night. I don't think they do an à la carte menu, though there may well be one available on request. First night was Ribs night. Help yourself to Gulaschsuppe and then to the salad buffet. I'm not wildly keen on goulash soup, though my wife is a big fan. The salad buffet was okay but not as good as in the hotel's Italian restaurant at the far end of the corridor. A rack of pork spare ribs came. It was fine. It came with Sauté potatoes although we had asked for chips, but I was happy with them. It would have been churlish to complain about something that I didn't care about! But not as good as the ribs at the Rübezahlalm in Scheffau. A couple of nights later came Wiener Schnitzel evening. Well I can take em or leave em, but my wife loves them. I prefer my veal not cooked in batter. But I perked up when I realised that there was a choice on the menu, and not just a choice between veal, Turkey or pork Schnitzel. Starter was Rindsuppe mit Fleischstrudel. That's beef consommé and meat strudel. You know Apfelstrudel of course? Well imagine a savoury one with minced beef. I had no idea what to expect, but it was very good indeed. Salad from the salad table again. My wife liked her Wienerschnitzel. My main course was leg of lamb in onion and thyme sauce with green beans and polenta knödel. Well the polenta was the best polenta ever! Not something I usually enjoy, this was delicious. I don't usually order a sweet but Apfelstrudel arrived unexpectedly but yummily, with a little scoop of slightly melted raspberry ice cream.
The Zinnkruegl is a very comfortable chalet style spa hotel. Very convenient for the main ski gondola in Alpendorf and for ski hire shops. It has an excellent gourmet restaurant which serves breakfast afternoon tea and dinner with a different menu every evening. It also has an excellent bar with reasonably priced drinks and the staff and family owners are exceptionally friendly. Our visits here have always been very enjoyable.

We went 2 nights in a row to get many different dishes from the menu.It was only in German but the waitress helped translating :)The soups were very good! we took the garlic soup - creamy and not so heavy - delicious! the onion soup was also one of the best we had and the pumpkin soup, which was a special, was interesting and yummy! The main courses were also good - Goulash and spaetzle, great pepper steak and nice schnitzel. The kaiserschmarrn was a very large dish with a great gem on the side. enough for all of us.highly recommended!
GroÃunterbergalm - the big meadow under the mountain. Very Tolkien, and I'm sure JRR would have liked this place. Main building is pine and nicely matured. Extension is new pine with a high tech shaded sundeck. We sat in semi shadeBier and Leberknödelsuppe with two knödeln. The menu is pretty much the universal Austrian mountain food. So why this one? Why was this one my favourite? I think because most of the mountain restaurants on the Alpendorf side have something of the motorway services about them. Catering and catering well for the passing trade. Wagrain on the other hand has lots of smaller places. And this one is the furthest away from that village. It's small and friendly. It's over the edge into Wagrain but only just. What a shame I only discovered it on the last day!

I was truly shocked by the poor customer service here, possibly the worst in the area. It took ages to get someone to take an order, even longer for the food to come and the waiting staff refused to answer any questions. They seemed to want to go out of their way to be difficult. Problem is they have a captive market. And don't bother coming if you don't eat meat; everything on the menu has meat in it. No fish or veggie.

We stopped there at the end of a popular trail. The food was Ok but the service was simply bad. For example- when a bee fell into my beer- the waitress said "not my problem". Sums it up..Dear Costumer,This year there are a great amount on bees in our region. It is very diffcult to protect every guest's drinks off the bees, but we give our best that you have an enjoyable stay at our restaurant. I am really sorry if the waitress had a bad behavior against you. Normally we counter our guests the most friendly way. If you would like to read some other coments, you will see that the day of your visit was an unhappy exeption.Greats,Restaurant Klammfürst

Very nice dinner, Great menu and many menu options. Very big portions and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The dinning room is very clean and nicely decorated. Plenty of seating inside and out. Prices are priced just right for location and serving size. Something for everyone.

In a rustic atmosphere offers fine regional and Mediterranean cuisine is celebrated at its best - and just this apparent contradiction makes the Oberforsthof Alm in the Alpine village so popular.
We have been coming here for many years. It had a great ambience and good traditional Austrian cuisine. Our most recent visit was very disappointing. The menu had been changed to trendier items that were typical of any'trendy' eating place elsewhere in Europe. Sorry Oberforsthof, but you have lost your identity and will lose customers who come to Austria for something unique to the culture. The ambience and service was still there as before but the food was no better than average. You have lost your heritage. We do not plan to return.

Since 1843 we, Family Rosian & Team, have been taking care of our guests. Our cozy restaurant, theevent hall and the new Weinstube are an ideal setting for celebrations and events of all kinds. A variety of meals along with the extensive wine list invite
We really enjoyed our meal here. We sat in the bar area to the right of the entrance. I had pork Schnitzel with a side salad and my husband ate a Beef stew which was listed as roast beef. Both meals were excellent, reasonable prices.
