Perhaps we were spoiled during our previous dinner out (Zaffran) whereby the service was first-rate: combined with excellent food. I'm still kind of at odds on how to rate Promenadenhof. First off - the restaurant itself is quite beautiful and laid-out in different sections. And very busy. For a Tuesday night we were surprised just how busy. Food was hit and miss for the most part. My pork 'tomahawk steak' dish was very good. My wife's Zander dish was problematic and frustrating for her as there were quite a lot of bones she had to continually pick out. This was unusual for us here in Europe. The dessert however was a hit. After watching various tables receive their desserts we decided upon the "Karusell" - a small tasting of various offerings. All were fantastic. The service? HmmmmmmNot sure how to put my finger on it. We've been traveling through Europe quite a few times since 2009 and are aware of the differences between service expectations in North America versus here. Service here can sometimes be misconstrued by travelers from NA as aloof and ambivalent. Not taking into consideration that servers here, while they do receive some form of tip - they don't rely on it as necessarily part of their wage (as they do in NA). Therefore they are not OVERLY attentive (aka hustling for that 20% gratuity) and keen for a high turnover. That all being said...Both my wife and I couldn't help feeling the service here was lacking. And I couldn't shake the feeling that our server just didn't like/respect us. Particularly when he added another 2⬠to his more than ample gratuity. Bill was 73â¬Gave him 100⬠and asked him to make it 78â¬He gave me 20⬠and walked awaySad and funny all at once. However I wasn't prepared to make a scene over 2â¬. In the end we walked out feeling like our business wasn't particularly appreciated by the staff - apart from the hostess who was friendly and accommodating - which is somewhat you never want as a restaurateur. I have NEVER said this before but perhaps if you're a local it's a different experience Too bad

This place is right next to the giant old cathedral church. The juxtaposition between the modern eatery and NOE-Gothic church is what stood out most. Seems like mostly locals are in here. The atmosphere is friendly, and alive. Classic American music is piped through the speakers. Very young professional vibe. Wait staff is smartly dressed and eager to help us English speakers.Important to note: This is not going to be a âcheap eatsâ spot. Youâre gonna drop some coin (euros), but if you wanna splurge - this is the place. Love that that kitchen can be viewed - thatâs always a sign that ownership is confident in their cleanliness. If youâre VERY LUCKY Anita will be there and she will be your link between the table and the kitchen; she is amazing. She was so patient with us, gave us great recommendations, and I never saw her stop moving! I hope to one day visit Lintz again, and when that time comes I will definitely go back to Paulâs Bar - (hopefully Anita is still there )

Right in the city round the corner from the tourist information. Staff very friendly and thereâs an English menu too. Great beers and good food. The chef cordon bleu pork was very good as was the schnitzel. Served with very well made rice and a good sized salad side dish. Nice and cosy inside this pub. Prices were very good too. Definitely recommended

Fresh made local plain fare (typical austrian cuisine) without any flavor enhancer. Typical Austrian restaurant - in the city and yet in the countryside ! Non smoking and smoking area, ideal for family celebrations of all kinds, about 200 seats, garden, p

Best schnitzel and potatoes of our month-long tour through Germany and Austria. Note the menu changes daily so there is no English version. The waiters give you a WiFi code so you can use your phone to translate the menu. The food is sbsolutely worth it! You know it's good when most of the diners are local!

We just stopped in for a beer, as alas, it was not mealtime. This looked like a charming place with picture windows providing a pretty view of Linz down below. We were entertained by a young mother chasing her free-spirit two-year old all around the room for the entire time. Charming.

Every year we dine here and it is always the same, high quality and wonderful experience. The dishes are well prepared and very delicious. The staff are very professional yet still friendly and helpful. We didn't notice it last year, but they had remodeled the einkehr. Before it was a traditional Austrian style. Now, it is a nice blend of traditional and modern decor, done with taste. A must go for an upscale, gourmet meal!
