We had lunch at the Ratskeller in Meissen today. My wife had chanterelles in a cream sauce with here pasta, and I had a sauerbraten with "gebratene" potatoes. Both were very good, and were especially tasty because of the Old German atmosphere - quite nice!

SchwanenschlöÃchen is one of the most important Sightseeings in Freiberg. The Historie is interesting for many guests. We have opebn full day.
Of the offered beers my choice was the "Lagerbier" relaly nice tasting and a very good starter for our dinner. The mushroomcreame was wonderful cooked and served. As main course we had three different kind of meat, typical German cooking and top tasting up to the bottom of the bowls of each course. A nice and chilled white as well as a tasty read wine went down smoothly. And the chokolade mouse topped with white creame were a very nice final, even if I had some Magenaufraeumer - a digestive they told me - at the end.

It is really a gem! Inside the park with a great view and a setting that combines socialist nostalgia with a great friendly family meeting. Full menu having lots of local delicacies and something for every taste, Good for families, friendly gatherings, romantic dinners. Fair prices and a list of drinks missing nothing. Definitely a place to visit more than once if you are in Chemnitz. All seasonal German kitchen also available (at this time Pfifferlinge - mushrooms)

Came to Chemnitz to visit a friend. HAD to eat here both nights! Amazing food! Good wine! Fabulous sitting outside. A 'do not miss' if visiting Chemnitz.

It is a hall of an old spinning machines factory, high roof, fine decoration including garn cones and a big screen playing a documentary about the now extinct textile machine industry of the region. An open kitchen with excellent grilling capabilities (both meat and fish) no smells (fabulous air circulation) brick walls. Starters full of taste and imagination and a great assortment of pulled and fresh meat to grill as well as fish together with a big variety of side dishes. Nice wine list. One of the best in Chemnitz. Not to be missed!

Domkeller is an excellent restaurant within the precincts of old Meissen across from the new (13th century) Cathedral. They offer delicious traditional German cuisine and an excellent selection of beer and Saxon wines in a casual setting. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I had the roast goose with red cabbage and a large potato dumpling, which was very satisfying. My wife's venison was excellent and came with the best Brussels sprouts that she had ever tasted. We paired our lunch with one of our favorite white wines: the excellent Schloss Proschwitz Grauburgunder which is made in Saxony. The service was friendly, and acceptable for casual dining. The restaurant is located in a very old house with wonderful character and a lovely view over Meissen from the dining room.

It's a small restaurant run by a couple. It offers German cuisine in a lighter and more sophisticated version (if you'd like a pork knuckle with fried potatos - I am afraid this is not going to happen in 30s Weinbistro), like a chantarelle cream soup, a cold soup made of a cucumber and bit of wasabi, a ratatouille with local cheese in millefeuille crust, etc. Just make sure you don't miss home made sorbets - they are unforgettable!

I went here with several colleagues and had the schnitzel with white asparagus. The atmosphere was excellent and the staff efficient with the food brought quickly. There is also a quirky water fountain. An enjoyable meal washed down with a few beers. Thank you!

We have been visiting Hofmann's Rossschlaechterei when we were kids, money was tight and our single mom bought meat here frequently. This was our first visit back in last 15 years and we were delighted to enjoy fabulous home made German food. Having travelled extensively and taking foreign guests to the Oktoberfest etc I have to say Franklin's is way better than the touristy places and on par with good home made food restaurants. For starters we had horse carpaccio which had a very refreshing pure taste. Mains were Roulade with Green Potato Dumpling , one of my childhood favorites. The red cabbage was excellent , fresh, not overcooked with a slight crisp. My brother had horse Schnitzel which was baked in butter, the way it has to be made. All in all excellent , I took some smoked horse sausage home to Tokyo. Very onexpensive by intl standards.

This is the hidden jem of Chemnitz. Roland Keilholz and his Team are doing a wonderful Job preparing the best Quality of dishes in town. Light German cuisine with italian and asian influences. The best meat and fish you get within 50 kilometers. And yet it is not very expensive. You definitely have to go there.
