Great typical Austrian dishes at the top end of beautiful Semmering trails, from where (a hopefully sunny terrace) the surrounding mountains and hilltops can be viewed. Huge portions but, if you make it there on foot, you should be hungry. Good beer and local wines too; and very nice, quick service. Try the Surschnitzel and, to finish with, the Heidelbeerstrudel (you might want to share that one..). We shall definitely return!

A very fine dining experience- an alpine walk, meticulous smart service, sitting on the balcony enjoying a stunning view...high quality cooking with very good fresh ingredients which was a very reasonable price- not to mention the intriguing building by one of the great early modern architects. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Great location at the foot of the slope. Food was very good both times that we have been there. The only downside is that they do not offer a children menu

I stayed at this gasthaus for three nights and only ate here. It provides a very satisfying breakfast buffet. The dinners were fantastic. Service was also fantastic. Highly recommended as a restaurant and a place to stay. The decor in my room was a bit tired but everything was spotless. The staff were lovely and courteous allowing me to leave my pack so I could do an overnight walk. My only suggestion is that they put smokers in their own room in the restaurant.

We have been going back to Holzer every summer for at least 6 years now. The restaurant, run by Hubert Holzer and his wife has a beautifully hand written daily menu with a short list of ingenious and delicious dishes. All feature fresh Alpine ingredients, often from their own garden. For 3 years now we have also stayed in the guest house upstairs. The rooms are comfortable, simple, clean and very tasteful. And the breakfast is not to be missed.

The design is nice and you will find approx. 40 seats. the service is done be the owners and simply great. If you need any help with Austrian wines, take the chance to ask. You will be surprised about the detailed knowledge of the owner. The sun is the chef - simply a genius - well experienced at the best restaurants in middle Europe. I ordered the gourmet menu and was more than happy. Fresh products, a chef you know how to cook them, right quantity and delicious.
