Reviews on Central European food in Ljubljana, Upper Carniola Region, Slovenia. Slovenia, wedged between Austria and Italy, has always been proud of its unique heritage. The capital, Ljubljana, is a perfect example of this blend of German, Mediterranean, and Slovenian culture. The old town is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings, watched over by a medieval castle. Cut through the gardens of Tivoli Park to the National Museum of Contemporary History for a history of modern Slovenia, featuring crumbled statues of Stalin and a recreation of a WWI trench.

Slovenian traditional food. Products from region of Prekmurje. Breakfast, ham, coffee, limonade, bread, meat plates, mangalitsa products and gifts. Advice for our guests: must try in our house are prekmurska and smoked ham, prekmurska gibanica and warm cr
I was really excited to try this restaurant based on other reviews and ranking #7 for breakfast. Breakfast options were very limited. Serving sizes modest and prices on the higher end by Slovenian standards. One egg on toast (4 euro), a la carte omelette (6 euro). We spent 25 euro in total for 3 people and walked away hungry.Location is nice and server was excellent. Unfortunately for us it seemed like a tourist trap.Mrs. Mother of all Mothers, first of all thank you, we really appreciate taking your time, to share your experience with us.We would like to point out that the price of the egg toast is 5,90â¬, only because it is prepared from hand homemade bread with finest and authentic slovenian ingredients (for meat, we have our own farmers, the vegetables coming every day fresh from the neighbour market, we used free range eggs...). And the same principle we have for other food and drinks prepared in our house. We strive to give our guests the best experience through service and of course by what they get on their plates, therefore the price sometimes seems a bit high.We hope to see you soon again.Kodila team

Last night in Ljubliana and this gorgeous restaurant in the Old Quarter did not disappoint. Superbly smooth service, excellent food, & local wines. Our waiter was happy to guide us on both food & wine matches. We enjoyed the duck confit & risotto with sea bass & fennel, but it was hard to choose, many beautiful dishes. Always busy, its a good idea to book. Lovely selection

We choose this restaurant having seen good reviews for it on TripAdvisor. We were more than happy with our choice. A menu to suit most tastes with the emphasis on Slovene dishes & wines. The food was attractively presented, perfectly cooked, and delicious. The recommended wine matched it nicely. The service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We will definitely return a second time during our stay here.

Spring is here and Odprta kuhna is coming back to PogaÄarjev trg. We expect more interesting food for each taste. It will come from all sides of the world. Opening is dedicated to food from Slovenia. Križanke Summer festival was reserved for all hungry and thirsty visitors. Good start but can be improved.

Booking for lunch is a good idea - while we were there several spec arrivals were turned away. Nice clean, white interior with space for maybe 15 -20 covers.Friendly service of a daily fresh menu. The penne with white fish and truffle oil was abundant and delicious. A local beer of just 2.5«v was a suitable accompaniment. The daily dessert of homemade lemon cheesecake was light and fresh. A final coffee brought the bill to a little over â¬20. Great value.

Landerik is in love with its homeland. Every single dish served here begins its journey somewhere in the wide countryside of our beautiful Slovenia, where, with the help of dedicated local growers and farmers, a key ingredient is selected - and it forms a
This years's new addition to Ljubljana's gourmet selection offers nice and well thought internal design with high quality service and tasty design food. We were party of 7 and have decided to go for 5 gourmet menus, 1 vegetarian option and 1 ala cart selection. Start with mushroom-nuts soup has been a nice treat. Followed by smooth and tasty beef tartare as a cold and ricotta...risotto made of barley... for warm starter.Mains were either beef cheeks on top of polenta or sea bass. For desert 2 typs of "kaiser schmaren" a local type of pastry based on crepes dough. All in all very tasty and perfectly displayed food and superb service. From price point a bit on the higher end ... a bit more then expected. But this is simply a result of growing upper class tourism in Ljubljana.2 remarks - as it is slow food, the restaurant should consider upgrading the chairs as they are rather uncomfortable... and some unique food experience is missing... something to remember.

Modern design, very nice interior, knowledgeable and high class waiting staff and very good food are main characteristics of this restaurant. Only down side is its location, away from city center, so use of taxi is recommended (unless you have a car at disposal). During the rush hour you can get stuck in a traffic jam. But since Ljubljana is a small town, this could take you away some 15-20 minutes, no more. Once you are in the restaurant, I am positively sure you will love it. Cuisine is on the modern side and very tasty. I had a fish and it was very nice.

We came to this restaurant situated in the castle for dinner. For starters, there are a beautiful views of Ljubljana below. We opted for the five course tasting menu (â¬56) and were blown away by the food. Courses were small, creative, absolutely delicious and attractively presented. We also had the optional wine pairing which included five exceptional Slovenian wines. We highly recommend this restaurant! Best food we had in 14 days in Slovenia and Croatia.
