The original hut "Asitzhutte" was built in 1930, when the region at the Asitz was used for skitouring. After the construction of the first cable car in the 1970's, the hut became a ski restaurant. In the year 2010, the Altenberger family purchased the hut
All ski-mountain huts in Austria and Germany seem to be similar - same sort of menu full of high-calorie ski-fuel, good friendly, quick & efficient service, immaculately clean including the toilets. Really - they're all fantastic. This one is a little bit special even then - a little bigger, better food, and beautiful slightly quirky fit-out (down to the gents toilets looking out on the ski slope - I hope it's one-way glass!).It was a bit more expensive than I expected though.

In 1999/2000 the Alte Schmiede was built to be an outstanding mountain and ski restaurant with 400 seats, which is open in summer and winter. It belongs to the hotel Krallerhof. In 2008 the Alte Schmiede was extended to accomodate up to 550 guests. Decora
Respect to people working at these alms, because it gets really crowded at peak times. It's suprising that the food is of so good quality. My only problem was the hectic and vibrant atmosphere - I am not prepared for the "waka waka" (too much noise) in the alps, though I have to say this place has an atmosphere. Anyway, keep up the good service.

This is a must go too âbucket listâ venue for dinner. Yes, the apres ski party is lively early evening but the management close the Restaurant from 6pm and make it nice and cosy for dinner at 7:30 and wow what a dinner experience. Book early.

Stopped here for a drink during our walk from Reiterkogel top station. Wasn't really hungry but tempted with the Brettljause, a platter of delicious cold meats, cheese, bread etc. Great service and spectacular views of the mountains and valley below.

Schattberg Stube is situated very close to the Schattberg Xpress skilift station in central Saalbach. The idyllic building and interior represents traditional Austrian style. The service is friendly and the food is tasty. We found it as a great place to escape the dinner we had as a part of the âall inclusiveâ hotel accomodation we were sold by our trip organizer.

Half way down the slope you'll find the Maisalm. Seated in the sun in a lounge set with an Apfelstrüdel with ice...difficult to get up and go again. I've heard good stories about their pizza's as well but we'll have to try that another time...friendly service as well..not to be forgotten. Hello from Saalbach!Thank you so much for your good feedback. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your skiing break in our restaurant and we are looking forward to welcome you in future, that you can enjoy our pizza :).Yours family Breitfuà & Team

Dropped in for lunch on our walk from Hinterglemm, glad we worked up an appetite! We both had the meat and cheese plate, which is generous and comes with bread and a bit of salad and the most amazing pork crackling spread, these is also a glass of schnapps included! We struggled to finish the plate, we had one each.As soon as we arrived there was a friendly ad welcoming greeting, the Sonnalm has a great terrace, partly covered and with great views up and down the valley.

I visited this spot about 15 years ago and was delighted by its novelty & authenticity. The owner even danced on the beams above our table. On returning with a group of friends, it's been turned into a monstrous, themed restaurant that's staffed by surly non-Austrians with no charm or expertise. Its been over-developed and any mountain hut charm has been obliterated. It's now targeted at younger folk who think a hot slab 'table BBQ' is something classy. We sat upstairs despite booking maybe three months prior for a prime spot but we'd been sacrificed for a bigger group downstairs. As the evening wore on, the smell and fat and fumes from the cooking below shot straight upstairs to the point where we were choking, our eyes stinging and our clothes coated in a thin emulsion of beef & pork fat. We were forced to vacate our table and eat our desserts outside. Not a word of an apology and not a sign of a reduced bill. This place is a complete and utter rip off and so un-Austrian it's embarrassing.

We revisited this lovely mountain side restaurant by ski having also been in the summer by bike! Itâs a nice cosy place - we had the goulash soup which was lovelyStaff friendly and everyone squeezes up onto shared tables when itâs busy. Nothing not to love!

It was a pleasure to return to the Enzianhutte for lunch on a ski tour in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Quick service, good food and a nice atmosphere. A place to return to.
