Ah, pride goeth before - well, you know. Staying in Hinterzarten for the week, we headed here for our first night's evening meal, as the good Italian restaurant was closed. We and apparently everyone else in Hinterzarten went to the Schwarzwaldhof for dinner that night. It was slammingly busy. We were seated by a very harried waitress who breathed a sigh of relief when we spoke German to her. We ordered a bottle of wine, and then, ordered the pork medallions with frites, and I ordered just a side salad and a serving of white spargel, since it was the season. The restaurant was very loud and the waitress and we were leaning in to be heard. She left, and a bit later a different waitress came and said, in English, " We think this is too much food." Oh. OK. She said," You have ordered pork medallions and salads and 2 orders of asparagus." NO. We cancelled one salad and one order of asparagus. But, when dinner came, it was TWO pork medallion meals, with enough french fries to feed 6 people. 2 side salads. 1 LARGE dinner salad. And, of course, the side order of asparagus. We ate what we could and left the rest. What a waste and what an experience in 2 languages! Beware of ordering when you cannot hear (and speak, apparently) well. Pretty funny. But, we were entertained by one long table complete with a diner who whipped out his harmonica and entertained the entire restaurant.Visit number 2 came a number of days later, and went AS IT SHOULD. First, the restaurant was only busy, the noise level was just fine, all indoor voices, and we double checked our order with the english-speaking waitress who laughed when she saw us. (Humility is a virtue, I suppose) We ordered a lovely pinot blanc/chardonnayand the spargelmenu with poached fish and a small salad. No over ordering this time. Whew! Terrrific meal, good ambiance, though no harmonica.Very nice German restaurant, with a good kitchen, and staff that can laugh, once they are not screamingly busy!
We were 2 weeks ago, one week on the Feldberg. Each night we had our diner at the Feldbergpass. Almost everything at the card we tried and it was all: delicious, tooo much, and the prices are good. Aga, Stephan, Marlies , thank you for your hospitality and ehh my weight was 2 kilo's more than when I arrived!Next year we will surely come again and hope to enjoy your meals ( schöffele mit kartoffel??) and kind attention again!Regards, AnneMarie Legerstee, Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands

Please, do not come here when you are in hurry! take your time to enjoy your meal. When we visit this restaurant there was just one old woman attending customers and one more person in the kitchen.Old woman prioritise without shame the local customers in front others, bring a book to read something while you wait she ends the chat with neighbours or friends. We were here during the mushrooms season and we enjoied very tasteful specialities!Price vs quality ratio is very good.I would recommend the visit when you are nearby.

My wife and I went to Feldberg in February for a weekend of skiing lessons. After the lessons it was time for lunch and we decided to avoid the overpriced and not-too-good food at the ski resort, and went looking for a place to eat. Tripadvisor didn't show up much - the few restaurants nearby only had reviews in German. After driving for a while we passed by this little hotel, and since we were hungry decided to just go for it. The first good sign when we walked in was that the place was 3/4 full (at 1.30pm). The waitress couldn't speak English (and we can't speak German), but she immediately went to fetch someone else (the owner's wife / sister we think) who could, and provided us English menus. We had the trout (fresh caught from the river running behind the hotel), and a roasted iberico pork. Both were excellent. Midway through our meal, the chef-owner came out to chat with us, tell us more about our meal, where the ingredients came from, and how he prepared them, etc. A hugely personal touch which we appreciated greatly. The wines which we ordered by the glass were both good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the place so much that the next day after our 2nd ski lesson, we didn't bother looking for a restaurant and just came back to this one.

Quite nice cozy place with a nice traditional food, the meat meals were great. Good service, a bit expensive for this location and kind of place. Nice atmosphere with mostly local diners. Not wow, but quite solid restaurant. Recommended.

A great restaurant serving typical german dishes at very high standards. The wild game was absolutely outstanding, and both the rehnusschen and the reh ragout were just perfect. Service is friendly and efficient, and the general atmosphere is really nice.

...over the Black Forest. We drove there following the recommendation of our Michelin Red Guide and were just totally seduced by the location of this hotel/restaurant.A very nice room (with a balcony over the forest), a delicious restaurant and a very friendly and attentive staff. Homemade jams/syrups available.Really an address to be recommended, I would certainly get back there for a next trip in the Black Forest...

My favourite for many years now: unsurpassed Wiener Schnitzelmade from proper veal, with fantastic Bratkartoffel and a fresh salad. Excellent salad with fresh Pfifferlinge, too! Good, well selected wines from the region - and all that in a lovely traditional Schwarzwaldhaus or outside in the beautiful small Biergarten surrounded by flowers. It comes with very friendly service, too. That's why we come back over and over again. Thank you!

We regret that our restaurant is currently only serving our houseguests until further notice, we are so sorry about the inconvenience!
Since reviewing Bierhaeusle two years ago, we've visited a few times. It has been invariably excellent. Back in the area for the northern summer and made it here as quickly as possible. We weren't disappointed. The food, once again was delicious. The menu is not broad, but what they do is great. Very fair prices, friendly owners, food is great, wine is good and fairly priced .... I'm not sure what else you can ask for. Eat here. Thank you so much, we are very happy that you returned and were not disappointed, all the best wishes for you and perhaps see you again one day;))))
