"Ende der Welt" stands for the "end of the world" not in a catastrophic sense but for a place where you can t go on. And, indeed, the mountain scenery on three sides of the restaurant couldn t be more dramatic. The food was good with traditional dishes such as "roasted sausage", onion sauce and "rösti" (Swiss hashbrowns) or sweet water trout with potatoes. The one thing that nearly got me going through the roof was the service personnel. I simply don t understand how persons with absolutely no charm or at least good humoured can exercise this profession (well, maybe he was the owner..).

This place is usually very busy. The view is IMHO better and even more impressive than in the lower locations and probably not that many bus tour visitors. On the other hand prices climb with the altitude and I even heard rumors about the need for lunch reservations ! Food was tasty and well prepared for a ski restaurant. Service very friendly, fast and good. We also enjoyed the view and good setting on the terrace. Inside was classy alpine style but charming and in a cosy way. Thumbs up and definitely a good place for a bite or just to relax !

After a long walk by the river we stopped here for lunch, the views of the mountains and waterfalls are breath taking. The waitress was very good and spoke English very well, the food was very good and an average price for the area. This was a great place to walk to and well worth a visit even if you just enjoy the scenery.

After our previous experience of the apple fritters two years ago, this year we organised our walking such that we could be at Schwand for lunch and were not disappointed. Sat out on the terrace with a great views of the mountains on the other side of the valley and had very good salads. But the piece de resistance were the apple fritters served with vanilla sauce. If you go, do visit the little chapel and admire the paintings on the walls and ceilings; they are quite charming.

Well, the restaurant has interesting menu so we tried goulash soup and beetroot soup which was OK. And for main I had pasta with potatoes and apple pure which was all very and very cheesy and not much then that. my partner had special schnitzel which was full of greasy cheese inside. I also tried a salad with chorizo some day. Couldn't find any chorizo in it apart tiny hint of something like chorizo...The dishes was to much greasy for our taste. We couldn't eat it.Kids menu simple and basic. But the main thing was waitress serving us on our second day...an orderly lady who after paying by cash came to our table counted our money in a front of us and said,,so it all OK?,, by meaning no change. I found that extremely unprofessional and rude. It was only 5chf of change and of course we would leave it as a tips but no way waitress should allow herself to act like that. After that we been eating elsewhere...

We were a larger group who enjoyed a dinner in the small hut of Bergrestaurant Fluhmatt. We had preordered the meat fondue to all of the participants. The food was great as well as the service. A bus was arranged to bring us up and for the return we walked down. We had two guides to showing us the way. It was late, so we took the road instead of the path trough the woods. It was down hill, but still a 45 min walk to reach Engelberg.

The atmosphere in this restaurant was the best we found on a long weekend in Engelburg. The staff were good. Service wasn't fast, but we don't find that a problem when out for dinner. We'd been looking forward to a cheese fondue, but unfortunately it wasn't on the menu, only meat ones. The pizzas were excellent. Prices were on the high side, though the wine was reasonable.
