Discover Restaurants offering the best Central European food in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany. At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

Attached to Veste Coburg, this restaurant offers adequate meals, good beer, and a great view. The meals are typically German: I had schnitzel with mushroom sauce, my wife a salad with strips of turkey. Both were adequate but no better than that. The service was very good; the coffee was okay. The restaurant is popular, but chiefly because of its location right at the entrance to the castle. You can certainly do better in Coburg itself.
It is a Bistro-style place, with dark wooden interior. They got outside seating during summer times and a winter garden throughout all year.Food was surprisingly good (especially the Pizza).Prices are average for Coburg and decent for the quality of food.Location is rather remote but within walking distance to the city center and the train station. However, there is not so much around in case you think about bar hopping.Service, mostly by students, was good. But it was on a Tuesday with the place being not packed!

The restaurant is next to the Best Western Hotel. The setting is very cosy and relaxing. They serve German Bavarian food. The taste and the presentation of the food is good. During my visit, I found the service to be exceptionally good as the servers were very fast and responsive.

Not everything went well today, and I permitted myself to inform the owner about the plates being dirty with fingerprints, a hair in the pasta, and the lack of time co-ordination (starters came with 20min time difference). He started to react aggressively, bragging with a women of the cityâs health department sitting in the next room (allegedly) complaining about our table to his stuff (âthey think they are kingsâ, âdo they think we are monkeysâ, and so on).All in all not a great loss, as I do not plan to return, ever...NO credit cards accepted!

I saw the waitress delivering a tasty-looking salad to a customer sitting in the outdoor area of the restaurant & it was love at first sight. (the food, not the waitress). We sat inside & I had the Bavarian Wurstsalat. My wife had Schweinekopfsülze with salad & Rosemary potatoes. All delicious, accompanied by local alcohol-free beer. The waitress made a mistake with our drinks order, but this was quickly solved with a smile & a "sorry." I would be happy to eat again here.

...even if you have to travel a bit (some 15km outside of Coburg) it is worthwhile to go there. We find this an ideal place to sit, eat and chat in a very nice atmosphere. Clear recommendation.

Situated across from the Landestheater, just off of the main pedestrian zone, sits Kunstlerklause. We began the night with a beer outside, listening to opera singers practicing/warming up in the building across the road. As it was nippy, we moved inside to find a very cozy restaurant where we had our dinner. The meal we ordered was typical schnitzel (pork), which was served with a small salad and potato salad. We were disappointed with what was delivered to us, as the schnitzel breading was more like a batter (it all came off at one point), and the potato salad had many pickles in it, which we are not huge fans of. While the meal disappointed, the actual building and location was nice which is rounding our review up to an overall average.

The quality and taste of the food at Victoria Grill was very good. The only reason I don't give 5 stars was that our steaks were cooked too much. We ordered medium-rare and unfortunately the meat was rather medium to almost well done and therefore a little chewy.Dear Xabbu, sorry for that, not our standard!

Our drinks we refer mainly from small factories behind which people are who have realized their ideas with passion and a lot of passion. Our food is freshly prepared and all our products are carefully selected. Depending on the season they come in part fr
This is a quiet little place in the centre of Coburg. The concept is simple: a very small menu, one soup, one salad, a fish dish, a meat dish and a vegetarian option. The food is cooked freshly in what appears to be a very small kitchen. A lot of the ingredients seem to be locally sourced and the drinks are at least partly from small artisan producers.Although the dishes on the menu would not have been what I would order elsewhere, our food was tasty and enjoyable. The service was fast and friendly and although we didn't rush, or feel rushed, we were in and out with two courses and coffee in an hour.I would recommend it but make sure you book a table as it is quite small and busy.

We came upon this place during a 2 week holiday in Franconia. It serves typical Franconian food with good regard to the season. Pfifferlingen (Chanterelle Mushrooms) were much in evidence and much to be enjoyed.I had meatloaf, my wife had Pork medallions and we were both very happy with our choices. Really good flavours, great service and a really relaxed atmosphere. Just off Marktplatz on the road that leads to the castle. Super location.
