Find out what Central European restaurants to try in Amsterdam. Charming, compact and charged with a zestful energy usually associated with cities ten times its size, open-minded Amsterdam delights with well known worldly pleasures tempered with down to earth Dutch sensibility. Radiating along a picturesque series of canals, the city seems to float dreamily and of its own accord at the lowland edge of Europe, welcoming fans of fine art, cutting edge fashion, or a raucous night out, with equal regard for all.

The surprise menu was terrific. Fresh, local ingredients, served imaginatively, and with care.4 of us vegetarian, one vegan. Most of the 5 courses were tailored subtly and carefully to make them vegan, and not making the diner feel "they just left out the things which aren't vegan", which can happen easily. And for one course, an entirely different and creative mushroom and radish dish was presented as the vegan item.Excellent service, full explanations of the ingredients and preparation.Divine asparagus blanched slightly, then marinated in oil, bay leaves, garlic and rosemary, then smoked over a BBQ.My youngest (10) liked most of the vegetables, and the rest of us happily scoffed her rejects.Tuesday night, 7pm, only booked a few hours in advance, restaurant about half full but felt lively because of good music and sensibly all patrons sat in the front half.We were staying 100 metres from Restaurant Adam. It's pricey, and very very good. Have no idea what I'd do if we *lived* 100m from it.... Have to really restrain ourselves and not pop in every weekend.

Visited this restaurant for breakfast a couple of times during our Amsterdam trip. Quaint small restaurant with the nicest most gracious staff and delicious breakfast choices. We had the pancake and waffle choices along with the fresh squeezed OJ. Perfect way to start the day. And love their morning song tracks. Highly recommend!

At Restaurant Elkaar you are always very welcome for a romantic dinner. We have a cozy ambiance and unique terrace in Amsterdam. Want to experience Elkaar?
We went to Elkaar for dinner and had a set menu as we were 10 people. 4 courses menus with unusual "amuse-bouche" to start with, then amazing fish, delicious soup, meat and great dessert. Overall, super nice staff, really good food (great wine too), a tiny bit long but for a 4 courses menu maybe it's normal. Congrats to the chef !
