Reviews on Central European food in Aarau, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland. Aarau (German pronunciation: [ˈaːraʊ], locally [ˈɑːræʊ]) is a town, a municipality, and the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Aargau. The town is also the capital of the district of Aarau. It is German-speaking and predominantly Protestant. Aarau is situated on the Swiss plateau, in the valley of the Aare, on the river's right bank, and at the southern foot of the Jura Mountains, and is west of Zürich, and 65 kilometres (40 mi) northeast of Bern. The municipality borders directly on the canton of Solothurn to the west. It is the second-largest town in Aargau after Wettingen. At the beginning of 2010 Rohr became a suburb of Aarau.

We were here with a group of 35 people and had a very delightful lunch. We can choose between a vegetarian dish and a chicken dish. We were seated in a spacious comfortable room upstairs. Service was excellent, very attentive, efficient in spite of the size of the group. We started with a tasteful salad served with execllent bread. We were just as happy with the main course. The dessert was a piece of manageable size black forest cake. Just right. The manager came around and asked if we have enough. At the back of the restaurant is a beautiful park and the Aarau Art Museum. We left the restaurant with a good feeling. The restaurant is within walking distance from the train station. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu. But the first impression is already very positive.

I had lunch there while waiting for my train connection in Aarau. The hotel is directly adjacent to the railway station. The dining room looks like a Bahnhof brasserie rather than a real restaurant: pretty cold and unpersonal atmosphere. But the waitress was friendly and smiling throughout the entire lunch.Food quality was quite average. The mixed salad I chose as starter was nothing to speak home about. The main course was only marginally better: veal liver sautéed in butter and served with rösti. The sauce was a bit too salty, the rösti crispy but rather tasteless. All in all this is a convenient place for a quick lunch - but nothing more.
The bar/restaurant/hotel offers soups for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. Occasionally they have other offers
They offer uncommon good beers from Switzerland, also local liquor and a fine selection of wine. On Thursdays and Fridays they always serve two different freshly made soups for lunch. Don't miss that.

Located in a priviliged position on Schachen in Aarau are the three Murset restaurants, all under one roof - the stylish, classic Murset Restaurant, the Murset Brasserie with French flair and the wine bar for enjoying your meal in a special ambience. All
I have participated in several business lunches here when recently visiting our business site nearby. I always look forward to lunch in this more formal restaurant offering pressed linen table clothes and a nice menu variety. I find the service quite attentive without being interfering. Plus, the restaurant has good acoustics so that one can hear others at their table without having to shout. The food is always quite good.Dear "James W""Always great food" - is more than our aim and obligation; it's our passion. Thank you very much for beeing our guest and we appreciate your feedback very much. Under one roof, we offer three different restaurants with three different styles of cuisine. Your favourite one seems to be the Restaurant Mürset. We are looking forward to your next visit and wish you all the best until then.Martin Klima & the Mürset team

Located in the old town, two distinct areas with separate menus, a warm atmosphere and nice attentive staff, this restaurant serves excellent food at a fair price.

The food was very tasty, the options were in my opinion very Swiss (although not the typical foundue). The service was excellent and the atmosphere very nice.I would categorise the restaurant as medium range for prices and as good confort foodDear GabyBBB. THank you very much for your visit and the nice feedback. We're pleased, that you've found a menu you liked even if there was no fondue. It would be a great pleasure to welcoming you again in Aarau.
