Part of the Isla Verde Hotel
If you're looking to unplug and get away from it all, as I was, this retreat center will float your boat. Treehouse style cabins, nestled into the hillside, daily yoga, meditation, delisious and nutritious food, stunning views across the lake, peace and tranquility, music nights, local cultural events. Simply perfect in every way. During my time here I literally ate, slept, played music, ate, slept, did yoga, ate, slept. Thankfully there isn't much else to do. I tried dropping in to the surrounding villages, most full of tourists and a bit grungy, but here there is just the pure magic of serenity and silence. I worked with a couple of local Shaman's with cacao and fire ceremony. That was the highlight of my trip and the staff here helped me determine the wheat from the chaf with recommendations. I'll definitely be back to hold a retreat here at some point in the future so I can share this bliss with others.

Informal dining with a menu that features local options, such as smoked chicken pibil with blue corn tortillas and home made sauces, as well as international choices. We make the chili sauces, jams, ice cream; smoke the meats; roast the coffee; Best to ma
Stay away from this place. The website sayd it was open. We went in, saw other customers, but the waiter refused service.Last night I talked to the waiter, Nicolas, who attempted to be of service to you.First off, my website does have our hours of service clearly indicated. Lunch is served 12:00-2:00 & 2:30 to 3:30. You arrived after 4:00, when the cooks need to clean the kitchen and prepare for dinner. We are a bit flexible, but we can't be when the hotel is full, as it was that day.Nicolas let you know that we have a lakeshore Palapa Bar & Grill serving sandwiches, quesadillas, taquitos and guacamole, etc., which was open. This displeased you even though you never looked at it. He characterized both of you as, "very rude, arrogant and los tipos who enjoy being displeased." He told me you were so stubborn that he was forced to show you the sign with our meal hours. It is next to the door. You had just walked past it.Basically, I think you are unaccustomed to a Mayan servant being empowered enough to say no to you.I am glad that you will not return.

Nice restaurant with pool, jacuzzi and internacional food
Our group made reservations for a private dinner, and we were treated to a first-rate afternoon/evening by Sophia and her staff. We lounged at the pool/swim-up bar enjoying drinks and appetizers until it was time for our dinner reservation. We enjoyed an excellent meal with stunning views of the lake at sunset. Sophia was extremely attentive and personally saw to it that we were well taken care of.

My husband and I stopped in on a whim and were so pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu offerings, incredibly reasonable prices, and most of all, by this sweet family and how much pride they take in running their local, native Guatemalan-owned restaurant and tour business. The homemade tortillas are incredible, and we are nearly addicted to the freshly picked chamomile tea. It really is a one stop shop, as the family also sells reasonably priced and reliable tour/transportation tickets.

A Graduate- run restaurant located in the CECAP vocational center building in the town of Santa Cruz la Laguna. It is part of a yearlong culinary arts program that trains local indigenous youth in food preparation and service. Open from 8am to 5pm Monday
The views from the rooftop cafe at CECAP are stunning, but the vista is just the beginning. The food is by far the best I've had in Central America! We got two different typical Guatemalan dishes; both had rich sauces and layered flavors, and the presentation was beautiful. For a backpacker who doesn't eat at fancy restaurants because they're out of my budget, this was a real treat - it's an excellent value. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that they reuse old jars and food containers for takeaway containers - I wish more places would do that. The businesses in Santa Cruz care a lot about reducing the amount of waste produced in the area, and this is a brilliant way to help do just that. You can take a tuk tuk up the hill for 5Q, but the walk is quite nice, especially after hiking volcanoes. Very highly recommended! Thanks for visiting us and supporting CECAP! We're so glad you had such a good visit. Come back again soon!

Constructed in the colonial architectural style with parabolic arches and gardens, Blind Lemonâs reflects the tradition of Guatemala. And set in San Marcos La Laguna, a small Mayan village on Lake Atitlan, surrounded by towering volcanoes, Blind Lemonâs h
I showed up at Blind Lemon's for an early dinner to find a group of football (soccer) fans from UK and Canada relaxing on a comfortable sofa and chairs watching on a big screen TV the Manchester City vs ?? Eat/Drink/Game. Good time even though I know nothing about football. Blind Lemon's is comfortable and inviting. The menu is well rounded, something for everyone. I had an excellent chicken enchilada dish. I came back later to see if Carlos Funk would be there. Lucky me, he was.For the next couple evenings Carlos and I played the blues. You've got to check this place out!

Nestor and Luann, who live in San Pedro La Laguna, have been cooking a big barbecue every Saturday for 6 years in Panajachel and for 9 years in San Pedro La Laguna on Sundays. We started small but with the help of many friends we have grown out of control
I've reviewed them once before but it was a long time ago and upon returning to town I'm glad to find both the food quality & service as consistent as ever. For those of you who've never been here, eventually you crave something different, a bit of comfort food, something you don't see at every restaurant or maybe just a break from beans and chicken, and to those who love burgers and protect their sanctity like it's our sacred American duty, THIS is a place adhering to those ideals. Not the sad, bland, tiny, poorly cooked imitations so many pubs offer, not veggie burger vegan regional hippie madness, this is a GRILL sacred to almost solely meats (portobello mushroom is allowed to touch the grill and be made into a scrumptious veggie sandwich just so non-carnivorous friends aren't discriminated against) and such a variety to choose from! I am a creature of habit and keep returning for my cheeseburger fix, which at 1/2 lb to begin with (you can order a BIGGER burger if you dare) is enough to knock me out cold for almost 15 hours straight every time. I love, love, LOVE the variety of sauces available to decorate your buns and meats with and here learned South Carolina mustard is some kind of divinity denied to Illinois. The salad bar is fantastic in it's own right and a fun way to build your own burger/sandwich and they always have things like coleslaw and potato salad or other cold salads available as sides. Things I love most? The chef NEVER undercooks my burger, a hearty side portion of the best American style mac n cheese I've tasted down here comes with every entree upon request and the rotating menu of side dishes available at the buffet is always delicious (again, with plenty of vegetarian friendly options, like their AMAZING cornbread). Dessert is an entirely different decadent delight; rich chocolate brownies, sometimes cake, sometimes cobbler made with seasonal fruit and it all haunts my dreams. Even if there's no way all the bbq food leaves room for dessert I get it to go because passing on it is a true sin. There are always drink specials, a full bar with a fine variety of spirits (especially nice for my other picky drinkers) beyond the usual "well" options and excellent bartenders who know their craft and are great people. The entire staff really makes you feel welcome and like you're one big family even if many people there are half a world away from home. It's a great place for local expats to mingle, foreigners to meet and befriend one another and to generally spend a wonderful Sunday relaxing and enjoying good eats and company. For the price you also get an OBSCENE amount of food-stretching your budget doesn't even begin to describe it. There are beautiful lake views from the seating area above the bar, a pool for kids and dogs alike to go crazy in, and a perfectly inviting, family-friendly environment. This is definitely where I cheat on my favorite Chicago burger places and it puts a smile on my face every time.*Note-When I say YES this restaurant has waitstaff I mean that waitresses do walk around taking drink orders but food you order at the register and pick up when your name is called (you can dive into the buffet of sides the moment you've paid for your order). Thanks so much for taking the time to review us so descriptively. We truly appreciate your compliments! Sending people home full & happy yet not bankrupt, while providing a nice atmosphere and quality products is one of the things we enjoy doing most and our mission.ROFL, "sacred American duty,"-if there is such a thing, I guess preserving the integrity of Southern-style BBQ should be a top priority!

Due to only having 1 server the restaurant offered very slow service, even in regards to just asking for the bill and receiving change etc. Also they allow people to smoke inside which is disgusting and not conducive to an enjoyable meal in my opinion. The place is quite dirty and the seating is uncomfortable with the place looking quite unsightly on the whole. Despite this, the food was of a good quality but an astounding quantity for what we paid!

View Of The Lake,,, We Accept Visa
The good: - Great view (of course, it's hard not to have this on the water front of San Pedro!)- Friendly and attentive staff- Free wifi- Amazing horchataThe not so great:- There food was okay. We were hungry and we ate it, but it definitely wasn't "great" by any means. There were a lot of things on the plate that appeared like it could have possibly come out of a freezer bag (side of vegetables even had those little crinkle cut carrots), - If you're high on hunger and low on time to research going here is okay. I wouldn't necessarily "seek out" this place to come back, unless for the fresh horchata.

Enjoy local and international vegetarian and vegan dishes in a beautiful quiet setting, surrounded by a big garden. We make all our products onsite with local ingredients including from our own garden.
We liked the food at Mayachik. Everyone was happy with smoothies, banana/ginger soup, guacamole, burritos and even the pizza was pretty good. Nothing fancy, but we love the all the veg options and the place had a chill vibe. That said, the lunch literally took 3 hours, which was more than we bargained for. I'd say its a great option if you're staying in one of the rooms here, but might not be so good for a casual lunch while visiting San Juan due to the long wait. The service was very friendly though so we didn't complain. The location is a little out of the way, near the road to San Pedro, but we liked that, it was an easy tuk tuk ride from anywhere.
