Reviews on Caribbean food in Trinidad, Caribbean. Looking for a Caribbean cultural melting pot renowned for its Carnival and pulsating to the beat of steel drums, soca music, and calypso? Trinidad is also lined with relaxing beaches and rainforest waterfalls. Nature watching is colorfully kaleidoscopic, with over 450 bird, 600 butterfly, and 700 orchid species. Golf, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, kayaking, fishing, and boating are among the outdoor pastimes. Cool off with fresh cane juice and sea moss milkshakes. Vegetarian food is plentiful. Eat curries and explore India’s influence at Maha Sabha Indian Caribbean Museum and the Waterloo Temple over the sea. Visit Port of Spain, and stroll and jog in Queen’s Park Savannah, near the Botanical Gardens, Emperor Valley Zoo, and Magnificent Seven buildings. The Savannah attracts truckloads of fresh coconuts, and doubles men sell coveted aloo pies. Walk around Independence Square and the Brian Lara Promenade. The Central Bank Money Museum in downtown’s financial district displays doubloons, gold bars, and Slave Savings Bank memorabilia. View Columbus Square’s 1836 Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Parliament meets in Woodford Square’s Red House. King’s Wharf is where cruise ships and Tobago ferries dock. The Venezuela ferry docks at Williams Bay. Near the Chaguaramas Military History & Aerospace Museum is a marina with yachts, sailboats, dry docks, and boat hires. The South Quay’s Fort San Andreas, built by Spain in the 1700s, has a small Port of Spain history museum branch of the National Museum and Art Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago.

When you land from England and want to feel like you really have arrived, first stop and first food you eat in Trinidad has to be a roti from Hotte Shoppe. And Iâd didnât disappoint. The best shrimp roti ever. Amazing value and so tasty and delicious. So lucky to be in Trinidad and did my first meal to be the best roti in town

Today we decided to try out an A La Carte lunch after a very disappointing dinner last night. A chance to redeem our view of terribly poor service, slow seating, slow order taking, slow arrival of food, and a mediocre meal. Hm.. unfortunately, today was not any better. My hot meal took so long to come to the table, and we were two of only six people in the restaurant, so there was no excuse that they were busy, but the steamed vegetables and the grilled chicken were all ALMOST luke-warm. ALMOST. We were halfway through our meals when the waitress popped up to ask if our meal was fabulous. Really? This place needs a good management shakeup! While the staff were all friendly, the overall impression is of a very loose system. Staff chatting to one another with no eye contact with guests. Thereâs no evidence anywhere of Management checking on staff, or customer satisfaction. Retraining is really needed here as individual friendliness of waiting staff, or a reduction of 10% off my meal, doesnât make up for yet another disappointing dining experience. Weâre here for two weeks, so letâs hope that someone somewhere listens and acts up guests observations! Hilton Hotel, you can, and should, do better than this.

Well worth the drive to get here. Feels like a world apart - a magic garden almost. Peaceful, rustic setting. The verandah at the back overlooks a lovely tropical garden filled with blooms and feeders to attract 12 varieties of hummingbird, other birds and butterflies. Ingredients for the set menu are locally sourced and local cocoa is used as a seasoning in many dishes. Food is lovingly prepared and served - delicious. All services by reservation only. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.mjhtnt. We thank you for visiting us not once, but, twice in the last month! We appreciate you. El Pecos is famous in POS for its quality, reasonably priced, and varied local meal options. It is THE go to place to go to for a quick, but great lunch, or when you don't feel like cooking all those myriad of dishes at home. Remember to wear gloves when touching the utensils in the buffet line, as they take cleanliness seriously. Have your money ready, as the line moves fast, add a refreshing drink, and sit out on their porch to get the full POS El Pecos experience.

This was an excellent dining experience. As I am writing this review we are sitting outside at this restaurant just finishing breakfast overlooking the harbor, the water with a wonderful breeze cascading through the patio we are on. We had dinner one night and a breakfast another morning. The vibe and energy of the property is very positive. At the Hyattt, the food is excellent, well prepared, with island diversity options, and the service has been both for dinner and breakfast outstanding. The wait staff makes you feel really valued. For dinner, I had salmon which had island spices/unique pepper was really was outstanding. My wife had a local fish that just melted in her mouth. Our guest, who is from Trinidad, raved about how her meal, steak, was prepared. We all had a side of coconut spinach which was very good too. It was our guests first time at this restaurant. She will be back. Breakfast options outside of the buffet were somewhat limited, I had Eggs Benedict that was very tasty. I did look at the buffet and what was offered ... it looked like one of the best I have seen as far as choices. The chef will customize anything you wanted which I love when I go to a restaurant. I would highly recommend this place if you want a really wonderful dining experience in Port-of-Spain.
