Things to do in Constanza

I visited Constanza with my friends during a recent trip to the Dominican Republic. The city itself isn't much to write home about, so I wasn't expecting much in terms of restaurants. But, WOW, this restaurant surpassed all expectations! In all honesty, the two and a half hour drive from Santo Domingo to this restaurant was worth it!We wanted to go out for dinner one night and one of the locals recommended this place to us. The place is in the middle of the town itself and from the outside it does not call your attention. When you enter, the decor is nice and you even forget you are in the middle of the mountains in the Dominican Republic. We went around 8pm and it was not busy, but there were a couple people eating. We sat down right away and were served quickly. It was strawberry season, so we order the strawberry juice. It was the most delicious strawberry juice I have ever had in my life. It was bright, bright red and tasted so natural. My friends also enjoyed the strawberry juice and the other fresh juices they had there. Many of us had the squash soup because the locals told us that is what they are known for. My wife and I thought it was just OK. However, for our main course, I ordered the stewed goat (chivo guisado) and my wife the rabbit (conejo) stewed in red wine. I really enjoyed the goat. It tasted fresh and well seasoned. My wife loved the rabbit. She said it was better than some of the high end french restaurants we visit in Philadelphia. She ate all of it and couldn't stop talking about it for days!!If you are in the area or passing through, try this place!

Stopped in with the family of five for a mid-week lunch in April.Their menu is long, with many attractive choices. All the items we tastedwould be considered gourmet creole foods. All were well-prepared with goodportions. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes for our entrees to arrive, sloweven by Latin standards. There were few customers in the restaurant, sovolume wasn't the issue. Other customers did get food faster, so it wasvariable.Worth a visit, but we did not sample the other choices in town. Takescredit cards.

Dominican Republic is not only beaches. It has the highest mountain elevations in the Caribbean. At 1,200 meters over see level is the nice city of Constanza. At the entrance of downtown you can find Dilenia where food is super. You can try anything local. Attention sometimes by the owner is excellent. An the temperature is very nice to be in the tropic. If you are in DR and want to fill the fresh air do not miss Costanza and of Dilenia. In DR we have it all.Dear Jesus Gilberto,Thank you so much for your visit and review. Please come by anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Take care!
