We came here on a day trip to Gimli. The gyros were good, but nothing else was. The hot dogs were good but the buns looked odd. My one son saw the fish and chips pics outside and food that came was nothing like what he expected. The large fries was small and the fries were not good. The fish was not crispy and flaky at all. My husband and Mom went back for ice cream after and they liked that. I didnât want to go there, and me and the kids went next door for our ice cream. The price was good and the 5 of us ate for under $40 with no drinks.

If you want authentic rural Manitoba cooking, go to the old hotel restaurants. And the Gimli Hotel does not disappoint. Ignore the old panelling and grab the menu. Excellent brazed eggs (poached in a frying pan), outstanding bacon, and the Denver omelette was just fabulous. Fast, friendly service, dietary choices accommodated, and bottomless coffee. All for a very reasonable price. And check out the local art on the walls.

Hope the people around Gimli support this place so that we can enjoy visiting them again when we are in the area. Our group of four dined at 5:00 PM on a Saturday evening. There was a steady flow of traffic. In spite of being busy, Rose, our server, provided excellent service.Cabbage rolls, perogies and kielbasa are all good. The borscht, in my opinion, could be improved.Entrees range from $15 - $19. If you don't have a huge appetite, share an entrée.....and leave room for dessert !! The restaurant is licensed. I would prefer to have a bill placed on our table rather than having to wait in line to get one at the cashier.Perogies can be ordered for take-out at $9.00 per dozen. It's worth the drive to enjoy a filling, traditional Ukrainian meal. Many customers were seen leaving with "doggie bags" to enjoy the left-overs at home.

I guess this is a typical diner. You do not expect haute cuisine, but wherever you are, service should always be important. The portions are very North American - in other words - very large. Nobody will leave here hungry. Prices are fair for what you get and all the usual suspects are there including fried chicken and burgers. Sadly the breaded chicken was more coating than chicken which was a disappointment. But the soup was good. You get what you pay for here

A group of 5 friends went here for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was great and the service excellent. Food arrived hot and coffee was overflowing in each cup.Our server was efficient and entertaining. The small town feel was an added bonus. Thanks for this great gem!

We ate on the outdoor patio with a great view of the lake. Lots of flowers in pots along the patio edges. Another couple came in and said it could be Mexico. Except for there being no palm trees on the beach it could be! Very beautiful. Large pitchers of water were provided fullOf ice on a hot day. The pickerel fish and chips were excellent. They looked like there was a lot of deep fried batter but the batter was light and the fish was delicious. Better than many fish and chips we have had in the Maritimes. The hall Cesar salad was quite large. Service was excellent. Very polite. We were all impressed with all aspects of our lunch.

Went here as a group of 6 guys, while overnighting in Gimli. Dinner, to put it lightly, was amazing. Beers were served ice cold. The poutine was hot and delicious and devoured within minutes of hitting the table. Most of us had walleye sandwiches, with some other people going for ribs or the pork chop. Everything was delicious.

We drove from nearby Arborg to Gimli just for the pickerel fish and chips. We were not disappointed. The beers were very good as well with some local craft brew selections. The pickerel was excellent. No bones. Thick and meaty. The fries were cooked correctly. The cole slaw was also very tasty. Highly recommend... plus have an ice cream on the way out...
