Heard about this place from our hotel. We had a delicious lunch (BBQ poorboy, chicken flatbread, and two non-alcoholic drinks. Service was quick and friendly. Lunch including tip was $40. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. The only con was the area in which the restaurant is located. The surrounding area is full of homeless people, at least 30 people sitting around, talking to themselves and smoking. Also, most of the surrounding businesses were closed because it was Sunday or boarded up. I did not feel safe walking from the restaurant to the car.

Hiding in Henderson Center, this is worth a visit. We go for breakfast and enjoy the coffees and options. No special items (like tofu) for vegetarians, but many choices to put together a good meal. Mediteranean plate good for lunch with hummus and veggies. Bright and airy and usually a table available.
This restaurant has gained a reputation of being one of the better choices in Humboldt County so we have been anxious to try it. I'm sorry to say it wasn't the great experience I expected and not sure I'd go back, though under the right circumstances I may give it another try. I started with a glass of 2012 Bordeaux - I figured I can't lose as it sounded yummy (though I haven't had good experiences ordering the most expensive glass and that proved to be true once again - at $13/glass, this came from a bottle I would pay only $15 for and then regret I made the purchase - my friend fared much better with the Malbec at $9). I had the chicken ($20), rolled around pesto with herbs, on a bed of asparagus and turmeric rice, while my friend had the special ($27). The outside of the chicken rolls was a little on the hard side, though the center next to the pesto filling was delicious. To my surprise, I couldn't cut the asparagus with my knife - a bit too "al dente," it seems, so wound up biting off the tender ends and leaving the hard remainder. To my even greater surprise, the rice hadn't completed cooking - it was cooked just enough to call it good but there were definitely some chewy kernels. We both ate our full meals (except for the asparagus) so I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. Service was good, except for a request for bread that went unanswered until we were just eating our last bites. Lovely room, nicely set table, clean bathroom. I may try it again but only because so many seem to enjoy it so much...Hello Mary, this is Alex the owner of Le Monde. Thanks for dinning with us.
