Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Weimar. Weimar was quite the intellectual hotspot back in the day, with Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Lucas Cranach and the Weimar School all spending time here. Goethe groupies will enjoy visiting his home, his tomb and the museum dedicated to him. If you’re in search of great food, visit during the Weimar Onion Market, held in October. (Just don’t forget your mints.)
Things to do in Weimar
I only stopped in here for a takeaway coffee, noting there were plenty of locals enjoying the cafe's sunny courtyard. I was missing New Zealand's amazing coffee and desperate for a caffeine-hit. The barista was friendly, happy to accommodate my specific coffee order (double shot) and we had a bit of a chat about coffee and New Zealand. The coffee was very good.
Very good place for a soup on a very cold day. We were the only English speaking people in the place but were very well taken care of.The staff is very friendly.
I really hoped for an improvement since my last visit, but unfortunately it is still bad. A lot of dishes were not available. The todays dish was a standard shawarma wrap and it didn't convince me. No recommendation!

The cafe surroundings and furnishings are nice and it is warm and cosy, and the coffee was ok and reasonably priced I guess. But here the positives end due solely to ONE PERSON - the female "Assistant" who worked there last sunday about 1pm, during the Zwiebelfest, (Not the younger lady, who was very nice.. the older one).. she clearly hates her job and/or hates customers, especially those whose first language is not German, like myself. We are an older, mature ciuple, very polite, respectful and courteous. While trying to order the coffees in my poor German we did not quite understand what this "Assistant" was asking us so she SHOUTS at us. Unbelievable. Then virtually throws our coffee on tge table, no 'bitte schoen' or anything.... and then without the cream even though we had asked for Cafe Creme.., so I politely asked for some 'Sahne' and again the same response, shouting at me in a huff. Reading some of the other reviews below, I think this woman has been experienced by others too. If she is an employee she is doing great HARM to this otherwise nice cafe.. if she is the owner (and God help us) then tge cafe deserves to fail. I have traveeled all over tge world for decades and can honestly say this person wiuld be in the bottom 1%. Highly offensive and insulting to someone who is a courteous customer. If management wish further infirmation on this experience, please let me know via Tripadvisor response. God help this cafe if this person continues to work there :-(

Where to eat Gastropub food in Weimar: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Excellent Korean restaurant in Weimar. It is strangely located (on the third floor of a mall) and there are other places to eat around (rather fast food) but honestly : have lunch at Nanum! The dishes cost between 7 and 9 euros and all the ingredients are fresh and perfectly prepared. I would definitely go back when I am in Weimar(Wifi inside the restaurant would be even more fantastic)

This Eiscafe has a very good range of ice cream flavours and service is fast. You can relax as you eat it under parasols on the Theaterplatz and watch the world go by

The history of the Residenz-Cafe: The Residenz-Cafe has an over 160-year-old tradition in Weimar. This makes it the oldest remaining coffeehouse of Weimar. Although the history of coffeehouses in Weimar began 100 years prior to its founding, the history o
Pretty solid breakfast for reasonable money. Nice athmosphere not only in the morning.....you should try to avoid high season because it is packed with tourists..... Make a reservation or be just lucky. Would recommend it for breakfast and drinks in evening. Food for dinner is ok but there are better places on Weimar to have dinner.
