The town has an old market environment and is located by Varde stream/river and is a short distance away from the beaches by the North Sea. These features make it a popular tourist destination. The age of Varde is not known precisely, but it is mentioned in written sources from 1107 A.D. and is therefore thought have been founded sometime in the early Middle Ages.

We eat here several times during our holiday. The menu has a good selection. As with a lot of places in Denmark, pick up a menu, find a table, order at the counter and collect food once ready. Good sized portions and staff very helpful. As ever the menu was in Danish and German.....but thereâs always Google Translate! Cafe Tropic also does good ice creams, eat in or takeaway and is a good place just to stop for a drink

Have been here several times, love the cozy, friendly and laidback atmosphere of the place. They serve great food at affordable prices, my favorite is the Frederik Burger, yummy they serve brunch saturday and sunday, are open evenings too, sometimes they have different live entertainment evenings. Friendly staff, quite busy on weekends.

I have Been Manny times by Hjerting Strand, and when I have guest we are visiting Cafe Stryns. It is a lokal tradition to visit Stryns in Hjerting. The place is perfekt near to the Beach and to the "strandpromonade" (the street along the Beach). From the Restaurant you have at very good weiu over the the "Ho Bugt" (the see).It si a nice place but expencive.

My wife and I enjoyed a nice quick dinner pre theatre in Esbjerg to celebrate our wedding day.Great views, good food (also traditional danish food) and good service.Fair prices. Great dark beers.If its sunny and warm you can sit outside.Can surely recommend. We will be back..

I ate alone at this restaurant a Saturday night. I was seated right away after I entered and received the menu shortly after. There was a good variation of food on the menu and I ordered some medium hot chicken in red curry. I did not wait for the food very long.The dish was a bit spicy and I was glad I only ordered the medium spicy one and a jug of water. It tasted good and I will eat there again.The restaurant is small with a few tables, but clean, tidy and cozy place.

Traveling with family including child with food allergies. They were fabulous about accomodating special requests. Food was amazing. Super fresh fish and gorgeous and tasty salad. Very reasonable prices, beautiful view of beach. Clean restroom, friendly staff, excellent service. Yum!!!!
