Tongeren is the oldest town in Belgium, as the only Roman administrative capital within the country's borders. As a Roman city, it was inhabited by the Tungri, and known as Atuatuca Tungrorum, it was the administrative centre of the Civitas Tungrorum district. The city is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.

Really enjoy lunch here. Waitstaff called us inside to an empty table so we could be warm. He also brought us English menus and yummy food. The other reviews about the bread are spot on. I may or may not have asked to take a few pieces home. :)

De Brasserie a changé plusieurs fois de propriétaire.L'enseigne se prénomme actuellement Barvenu propriété de l'exploitante du restaurant contigu Stas-Dejong.Si vous avez de la chance l'établissement peut être ouvert :c'est selon l'humeur et la disponibilité du personnel.Intérieur splendide.

During our stay in Belgium, we visited the historical centre of the city of âTongerenâ, very well known by the history of âAmbiorixâ. So during our visit we got hungry and doing so we went to have our lunch into the âEiscafé Basilicaâ, just on the corner of the great place in Tongeren. As it was early noon we were from the first to have our lunch, it is a nice restaurant, very clean, a good service buy the owner, and also the food is excellent, we did not have the time to visit the complete historical centre, but when we return, we will go back to this location to eat, this for the service, and quality and price.
