Things to do in Terceira
Whilst driving around Terceira my wife and I fancied stopping for a coffee. About mid-day we spotted "O Raul", or Raulâs Bar, on the left as we drove westward through Biscoitos on the main road and pulled over. The bar is just that - a local bar with four tables and chairs in it where the locals go for their "cafe conçeiro" - coffee with brandy or whisky or whatever. The young man behind the bar was the son of the owner, Raul, and they made us very welcome, even though they spoke very little English. We ordered our coffees and it occurred to me that they might have a lunch menu, so I asked. He responded in Portuguese (naturally) that he had no menu, but that they did a fixed menu each day and had two options that day for lunch:⢠Bacalao o crema (salt cod in cream sauce)⢠Codorniz frito com batatas fritas (fried quail and chips). Codorniz, or quail, is considered a delicacy in some places, and not having had quail in a long time we opted for that.He went on to say that he had some fish soup for a starter if we wanted some. My wife does not like fish soup, but I had some - it was excellent. We were then served TWO fried quail each, with chips, h a good mixed salad and a plate of olives, all freshly prepared, together with local red wine and mineral water, followed by another coffee each.Overall an unexpected and delicious lunch. And the cost? â¬14 for the lot!!!!Without question, the best value we had anywhere in the Azores, and well worth a visit.

Sit, relax, and enjoy drinks under a gorgeous tree that had stood here for centuries. Take in the views of the botanical gardens just across the street, and enjoy the live music every weekend in the Summer.A famous meeting point for all the locals, and unmissable for all visitors.

Nice little cafe for snacks, lunch or light dinner. Very helpful, friendly staff. Good soup, desserts and hot chocolate.
Where to eat Bar food in Terceira: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We made the choice to go to this cafe after reading a recommended review. It is located close to the Terceira Mar Hotel on Rua de Sao Pedro. After we sat down and checked the very limited menu, we realized this was not a supper location. With the realization that we knew of no other nearby location, we elected to stay and try the meagre offerings. We each choose a cheese burger because nothing else on the menu could be considered a meal, unless a plate of fava beans suited your taste. In the display case were a few pastries displayed on trays that were mostly empty. In all fairness, lunch might be a better time to visit because at least they have a âsoup of the dayâ. The cafe also sells an array of bottled jams, dips and other confectionaries as well as several assorted wines. Most of these can be ordered on line and shipped to you direct. In summary this wouldnât be high on our recommended list as a place to go for a late afternoon meal.
Small restaurant, the environment is comfortable, dishes rich and delicious.
Forget the decoration and the almost snack-bar feel to this place. The Azores way of life has touched the owners of this restaurant and the food is cooked fresh and delicious. The sweet and sour sauce is home made and the rice is fresh! Yes, it takes 20min to make like a real home made meal does. Simply put itâs the best chinese cuisine (outside of China) Iâve ever tasted. Azores, magical place.

Sandwiches, pastries and specialized cakes. Its a popular lunch sandwich spot - all fresh ingredients and can be quite full but has more seating than you see from the road. Located on the lovely Rua Direita main street in Angra Sandoxa also has very friendly staff. A local favourite.

We ate at Copacabana three times on our trip to Terceira: two lunches, and one soft serve ice cream. We had two teens who are somewhat adventurous with food with us, but wanted some more comfort food a couple of days. They have traditional food, many of which are meals at great prices, but they also have hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, etc. I had a veggie burger with fries for one lunch, which was decent. The fries on Terceira are mostly unsalted (as far as I can tell) so I don't get the point of eating them. I love my fries salty and, unless they are marvelous by themselves, they are pretty much a conduit for ketchup. The second lunch I had was their special. I highly recommend their soup. I had a salad with tuna and my husband had a salad with grilled chicken. For a pretty plain looking tuna salad, it was amazingly delicious! The meal came with fresh orange juice. Really good! Both times our kids had hamburgers, hot dogs, or club sandwiches. They enjoyed them all. We also all had shakes at some point. They are much thinner than the shakes that we have in the US, but the dairy there is so delicious that my kids thought they were some of the best shakes they ever had. Their soft serve is also much better than some we had in Praia. Very smooth and flavorful. The staff is incredibly nice and speak excellent English. I tried to speak a bit of Portugese and they were kind about my pronounciation. It was a very comfortable and casual place to go, especially if you want something fast, easy, inexpensive, and solidly good.

I think during the day when you can people watch this is a good place. I had been here a few years back and had some sangria and people watched and with all the shops open and people on the beach it was good. But this was a dead night and not much on the TV but soccer.
