Beautiful place in the middle of no where about a block away from the market. Open air cafe but inside there is air condittioing and nice bathrooms. Prices are somewhat reasonable and the Cream Burel is amazing. We went 3 times. 1St time was great, second closed and 3RD not good at all. Cheeseburgers taste like soy but were told they were beef. Wouldnt order food again.
Where to eat Chinese food in Tahiti: The Best Restaurants and Bars
I was in Papeete for 10 days on business and stayed at the Hotel Sarah Nui. A local friend had recommended the Coffee Shop Tahiti which is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel - after the first breakfast I was hooked and went back every morning (except when it was closed on Sundays). There's a small, but delicious breakfast menu, generous portions and very good pricing - my favourite was muesli, fruit, yoghurt and two espresso coffees for under XPF1,000 (approx USD10, or NZD15). Free Wi-Fi an added bonus. Very friendly and welcoming owner who does almost everything in the cafe, and nothing was ever a problem. Always a lot of locals in the cafe which is a good sign. Would highly recommend and when I am back again I will definitely eat more than one breakfast there.
I was craving the bubble tea but unfortunately not up to my expectations (high expectations of course being a frequent traveler to SE Asia). French pastries are good though. Pricing is average.

We had some time to kill before checking into our rooms and so went to Te Va'a Tere at the cab driver's suggestion. It has one of the best views in the city, overlooking the port. The seating is in an open plan room, with several tables right up near the loading ramps for the ferries and with views of the water. It gets a nice cross breeze and so is a great respite from the humidity and sun.Te va'a tere is also a great place to people watch -- locals, tourists, people taking a break from the sun or rain. The food we found to be reasonably priced (beers for under 500XPF, which usually is slightly more at other city establishments). We ate there twice (another time getting out of an afternoon downpour that last over an hour). The prices are reasonable and the food very tasty. The fish burger is made with a real tuna fillet. The chicken baguette is made with real breast meat, aioli, a thin teriyaki sauce, and greens. The staff are very friendly and appreciate the effort if you try to speak in French or attempt the occasional Tahitian phrase. You order at the counter, but staff will bring your food or pitchers of beer out.Merci merci beaucoup de votre avis nous cherchons toujours la convivialité, afin de mieux vous servir et vous satisfaire.
