Love stopping here for a coffee and cake: enjoy just watching all the activity. Itâs a lovely spot overlooking the vale & Shaftesbury in the distance besides all the planes landing and taking off.Have to say the coffee has improved since they now use a barista machine: cakes have always been good.Hi ! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to us, we have had a barista machine for 8 years now so it must have been a while since you last visited! Don't leave it so long this time :) Laura & team

We make and bake as much as is humanly possible here in our open kitchen. Locally roasted coffees and locally blended teas. We are a little bit different without being too 'off the wall'! Come and try us. Steve.
We went there following recommendations from trip advisor and enjoyed it.Good quality produce but disappointed much of the menu unavailable. No license but excellent coffee. Thank you, that's really kind of you!We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit and that you found us via trip advisor. Apologies if we had sold out of many of our dishes. The fact we had, leads me to assume you visited later in the day when it's true we do sell out of dishes. We believe in making small daily batches to ensure our food is as fresh as possible and on busy days we do tend to run out as lunch goes on, particularly the brunch menu which is available from first thing in the morning.Thank you again for taking the time to post such a lovely review and we hope to see you again soon. Named after William Dike, Andy's father, our licensed cafe is open for hearty farmhouse breakfasts, lunches, snacks and traditional Dorset cream teas seven days a week.
Called in here for lunch with family, quite busy but found a nice comfortable area, no waitress service just order at the counter. Nice clean and tasty food served at a reasonable price. The café is in Dikes supermarket, , the price in the supermarket is quite expensive compared to most food shops.

We went here for lunch. What a view of Gold Hill. The food was great and very very reasonable towards our East Coast USA prices. It is small inside but quant. Six of us ate for 79 british pounds, lunch, dessert, and drinks. It is located right on top of GoldHill and close to many stores and sites. Would definately go the next time we are in England.

Visited with my husband and grandson for breakfast. The service was excellent as was the food. It was well presented and cooked well. They serve smaller appetite breakfasts and catered for me well as I am a gluten intolerant veggie. Our 6 year grandson had the childâs breakfast which was just the right size. Lovely friendly atmosphere.Best to reserve a table for breakfast at the weekend

Located at Spire Hill a couple of miles outside Stalbridge heading towards Sturminster Newton. Fancied popping in to see what my friends were talking about. We arrived lunchtime on Saturday to be handed a small menu on a clipboard only it was only breakfast choice, this came as a surprise. Nothing really wowed me so had a bacon butty (smoked bacon - not my taste discovered once I had starting eating it)? Could you state that you use smoked bacon on your menu so that people know in advance and can avoid it if the wish and not waste their money? One of the best cups of tea I have had in a long time. Loving the loose tea and the large pot - great flavour. On a Saturday they close earlier and it is breakfast menu only - be warned.I will need to return on another day to try the full works.

Sadly I have not had time to go to Sturminster in the last 12 months. However I needed something from a specialist supplier based there and of course went to POES CORNER for a coffee break.I am happy to say it has not changed or gone down hill as many places seem to in these times of financial unease !The owner was not there but his family and a member of staff are every bit as efficient as when he is there not always the case in too many places, I was unlucky with the baklava but had a really nice moist piece of fruit cake with a latte. One nice touch while I was there was a knock on the window from the seating outside by a disabled lady prompted an immediate response and service Well done poets corner! Sadly Sturminster as a town seems to be dying slowly so I worry this café might face problems in the future so please do visit if you are in the area and keep some of the good guys from disappearing or being engulfed by the CAFE NERO s etc

Don't be put off by the rather small frontage of this cafe - the Stur of the Moment shares a building with solicitors but it is like the Tardis - there are plenty of seats (I estimate about 60) as the building stretches back quite a way. There is also an outside courtyard seating area at the rear. There should be something on the menu here for everyone - mostly traditional English fare but the specials board can contain a few surprises. I chose warmed duck leg with salad (and a cappuccino) for £11.45 and it was delicious although it lacked my preferred orange sauce. I could not find a rating on Dorset's 'scores on the doors' website for food hygiene but I saw nothing to concern me in this cafe. There is a very clean customer toilet (see my comment below). The (waitress) service was quick and polite. The cafe takes card payments for a minimum of £5.On a more general note - Sturminster Newton is a lovely small town and well worth a visit. It seems to have everything - police station (and cops on a foot patrol, how often do you see that?), fire station, theatre/cinema, drop-in centre, river walk and the old S&D railway has been converted into a delightful linear park. But what it lacks is public toilets - both blocks were closed and locked on the day I visited apparently due to vandalism.Thank you for your review, yes we are a quite a bit larger than a first impression gives and at this time of year the courtyard is a lovely secluded spot to enjoy lunch. We arenât listed on âscores on doorsâ because we are on the Food Standards Agency website, with a rating of 5. Our sticker is displayed on the front as you enter the building.
