Situated on Mt Yoshino surrounded by mountains and shrines and a lot of old houses, yoshino is a peaceful, scenic little village where most of the population or townsfolk we have seen are middle aged and above. Yet pleasantly surprised when on a walk further up from the kipusenji temple this rather modern cafe stands apart from the traditional styles restaurants and eating places in the same street. Jazz music greeted us as soon as we entered, and the menu is a simple one offering coffee and desserts. Their kudzu Mochi (which this village and yoshino is famed for) has a starchier and denser texture compared with the kudzu Mochi of the traditional places along the same street, nonetheless still a pleasant eat. Managed by a young couple who speak a little english. English menu is available.
