Back on a family visit to Durham and as per a previous review I went off to Nanny G's for a slice of cake. Only Nanny G has moved and The Ships Bell Cafe is in it's place. Ok says me.....lets have a look. The furniture has been replaced and does look a bit nicer on the inside, a bit more comfortable so that is a good thing. However, what I cannot condone is a blatant attempt at deciept. It would appear that Wendy used to work for Nanny G and has attempted to make cakes in the style of Nanny G, claiming them as her own. Please, if you are going to take over a new venture at least have the faith in your own abilities and not copy someone else. I'd be more impressed and forgiving if Wendy could make and decorate a celebration cake. The slice of chocolate cake was fine but I couldn't help the feeling that I was being cheated......The venue will get a lot of footfall due to its location but if you are looking for the best cakes (and customer service) then go to the REAL Nanny G's.
Drove down towards the harbour and came across this place which seemed ideal with a free car park outside. However Note: there are no toilets on site you have to go down to the end of the harbour to the public toilets which wasnt ideal with our elderly mother.Place is nicely decorated with lovely outside seating area with fab views.Didn't like standing at counter waiting to be acknowledged or served, didn't feel friendly.Just ordered coffees food seemed to cater for particular audience so seemed very fancy and expensive. Coffee was nice but found flat white in a glass tumbler a bit odd.

An awful unfriendly environment, poor food and extremely overpriced.Dog treats are old stale and extremely expensive. The staff are rude and abrupt. One to give a miss! Can I ask when you visited the cafe please and if you requested to speak to management after you state the staff member was rude? I personally dont think £3.50 for a sandwich/toastie and a drink is expensive and have certainly had no complaints over the pricing or the quality of the food in the 2 years we have been open. Our treats are neither old nor stale and again are very reasonable starting from just 30p.

Whether you want breakfast, a sandwich, or just a coffee, this is a great value for money place to go. The food is good and reasonably priced and on a fine day there is a pleasant seating area outside in the pedestrian precinct. A good place to visit. We will return soon.

Coffee and Co has always been a smashing cafe in Seaham's church Street. It's recently changed hands and dare I say it's even better.A friendly welcome is followed by conformable seats and clean marble tables. The prices are wallet and family of 4 friendly. I had the medium breakfast which was plentiful and well presented.A great start for my Monday morning.Cheers

Four of us eat here and two of us had sea food which they all enjoyed. I had the fillet. It was fine but I have had better. It was a little too well cooked despite a detailed conversation with waiter. However that is a discussion itâs not always possible to get right. The forth member of our party had the minute steak and enjoyed it.The service was excellent and the coffee liqueurs were excellent and naughty.

We visited Clean Bean for breakfast as a family on an impromptu trip to Seaham. We parked outside, sat in the window and enjoyed a splendid breakfast. I didnât realise the sausages were gluten free until I asked where they came from. It was that good. Wonderful. Go there. Great breakfast.
