After following these guys on Instagram for a while, and dreaming of sitting on their cosy looking, fur covered, fairy light lit benches, I finally got to visit, TWICE!The Nutella pancakes were decadent and the company was lovely. If youâre looking for a picture perfect spot for a sweet snack and a tea on your visit to Saariselkä, this is the one!

Savottakahvila (aka Laanilan Savotta) is situated in Laanila (address Viskitie, Saariselkä), along the highway 4 (E75), near the starting point of Ruijanpolku Trail (read separate reviews) and other hiking trails to Urho Kekkonen National Park. Savottakahvila is a cafeteria but they also serve soup lunch. They also offer hostel accommodation. In addition to this they say that they have a free museum. In my opinion it is only a small exhibition about the history of logging, log floating and other forest works.The milieu in Savottakahvila is very interesting. They have many old items and beautiful details. They even have a fireplace with real fire. I loved this place very much!This is also a good starting point for walking a couple of kilometers to Piispanoja campfire site or to the historical Prospektori miners' hut. These routes are accessible with a wheelchair or with a stroller, too.

Sport Bistro Pilkku is a ski-in restaurant at the middle of Saariselkä Ski & Sport Resort. We serve buffet lunch and à la carte daily. You'll find and plenty of delicious species like Salmon soup, sauteed reindeer, steaks , burgers , warm breads and lasag

We did not have the buffet so cannot review, we did have the minute steak 3 days in a row for lunch! We saw the picture of the meal outside the Ski hire and were thrilled that the meal we got was EXACTLY as advertised. Great place to have a rest and warm up with lovely people and good value tasty food.
