Stopped here for a light bite after a local walk around Philip Park. We had a tea, latte coffee and shared a Welsh Rarebit - delicious and good value. Our friends attacked the cake selection and the carrot and ginger cake was particularly appreciated.

We have been here a few times now and we have never failed to get a good meal at a reasonable price.Around twenty places so we have on occasion had to call back after some shopping to get a seat - always worth the effort. The service is very good with and we did not have to wait too long for our meal.

Good choices and inexpensive food in nice surroundings. Close to all the shops and the Market.Food is good and hearty and there is plenty of choice even for my Gluten free Wife. We never leave disappointed from Leckenbyâs. The staff are great and Georgia and the rest of the girls are a credit to the restaurant and management.Perfect lunchtime treat!

Welcome to cafe north. The naming of the family business deriving from the surrounding Northen Quarter "NQ" wich is known as a basin for alternative and bohemian culture for the Manchester population since the early 90's. Since our opening in 2005 our fam
Iâm a regular customer of this cafe as itâs great for a tasty lunch thatâs convenient. On my last visit however it had changed, the food was still excellent, however the 3 waiting staff could barely speak English, we struggle a lot with ordering to ensure we would get correct food. Even more stranger, when our change was returned to us, it was 60p short. So mentioned this and was told in broken English they had given me correct change and I took it. I also heard another customer saying her change was wrong. For cafe I usually love, I hope this doesnât continue.

We have eaten here many times without any issue although this time was upsetting. This was the start of a birthday and wanted to be served breakfast rather than cook it. I ordered oven roasted tomatoes on chargrilled sourdough (£7.20?) at that price I would expect something special. The toast came burnt not charred ( I am a chef by trade and known the difference). I brought it to the attention of the waiter so the problem could be resolved. What we did not expect was attitude, this upset me and not what we expected. The dish was brought back tomatoes on bread, like I have stated at that price you would expect something special. I didnât want to upset the day further so I did not mention anything further, although we were not meal checked. Disappointing visit and if not for no problems in the past this would have been a lower score.

We were seated on arrival and menus given. We had an afternoon tea voucher but was told we could use it for anything off the menu and put to if it went over £33. Ten minutes later our drinks order was taken, we waited about 15 minutes before our drinks came. We did noticed others had come in after us but had drinks and food before we even got drinks. Our afternoon tea arrived on the 3 tier stand, looked very nice. I ran out of tea and asked for some hot water as I like my tea very weak, the waitress said I will get you a fresh pit as itâs complimentary. Ten minutes later a young waitress came to see if we had finished, we asked for a box to put our cakes in to take home. I asked if she could see if my pot of tea was coming and she said ok. Sat another 15 minutes still no tea so I said come on letâs pay and go as it doesnât look like the teas coming. Went to pay and the waitress that said she would get me a fresh pot of tea was stood with 2 others chatting. I asked were I paid and went and paid. Food was good , first pot of tea was lovely pity I didnât get the second one and would say service was iggledy piggledy. Not a very good first impression.
