Things to do in Port Hope
Serving Canadian customers since 1963. Original home of all-day breakfast. Truly Canadian.
I visited this particular Starbucks on March 5th in the early afternoon and encountered a barista that was unpleasant, snotty and just going through the motions of being overpaid. The dark roast was Sumatra aka, worst brew Starbucks offers and when I asked if there was an alternative, I received a very matter of fact, "No." I asked the barista if she could do a pour over or perhaps offer an alternative, and she emphatically said, "No."The barista stood behind the counter, with a "Can't Really Help Ya Buddy" look and for the first time in 20 years, I considered going to Tom Horton's; where the coffee is disgusting, but at least the wait staff are pleasant. I will not visit this Starbucks location again and encourage others to avoid if possible.
This location is always busy but they seemed really confused this time which made the wait in line extra long. The steak sandwich had changed without my knowing it. It used to be served on a panini but it now come on the same bun you get with your chili and they didn't even cut it. The taste was different too. Guess I will be ordering the chili next time I'm here for more than a coffee. It is a shame because this Timmy's is normally really good.

Our lunch after spending a few hours with some awesome goats in an incredibly beautiful setting did not disappoint! We had the La Mancha grilled cheese sandwich that came with a side salad as well as their Squash Salad plate. The sandwich was grilled perfectly and was loaded with flavour. The Squash salad was huge (good thing we were sharing) and included in addition to the squash, pears and cheese. It was soooo good! The goat cheese cookies were also delicious. The young crew working weâre wonderfully pleasant and helpful.I would highly recommend the whole experience (shmurgling and lunch) as a lovely way to spend an afternoon with family and/or friends. Thanks so much for visiting us, we're glad to hear you had a great experience and enjoyed your meal. Come again!

How can you wreck a club sandwich? Bread was mushy (wet?), mixed greens/lettuce was wilted/rotting, chicken was really rubbery. Thanks pulled it off to look at it and tried to eat it separately but it was stretchy - more of a fish texture then chicken. It came with 12 fries. I think the oil needed to be changed. We couldnât get out of there fast enough. Too bad because itâs a cute place, great location beside the beach. It could have been a weekly visit or us.

Cozy Tea Room attached to heritage home on main street in Port Hope. Serving lunch and afternoon tea, seasonal patio.
Stayed here for two nights while visiting family in the area; our room was comfortable and the bathroom clean and well supplied. On the second evening we enjoyed some quiet time with a glass of wine (glasses promptly provided at our request) in the comfortable guest common room on the main floor. Breakfasts were superior and beautifully presented and the coffee was excellent!Thank you for your very nice review Catherine. We are happy you enjoyed your stay at our B&B and felt comfortable. We would be delighted to host you and your husband again in the near future. All our best,Corrinne and Chef Ron

We came across this place quite serendipitously, having left the 401 at Port Hope looking for a good lunch. We certainly found it at Basil's. The home-made roasted tomato soup is excellent; so is the Reuben sandwich. My wife loved her BLT salad. The coffee is very good. All in all this deli was a very pleasant surprise! The prices may seem to be on the high side to people used to eating at fast-food joints, but no one should expect to get superior food for cut-rate prices.
