Discover Restaurants offering the best Cafe food in Passau, Bavaria, Germany. Known as Dreiflüssestadt (City of Three Rivers), Passau is the place where the Danube meets the Inn and the Ilz. The picturesque city lies in Germany’s far southeast corner near the Austrian border. Settled since prehistory and a former hub of the salt trade, it became the Roman village of Batavis, then later the Holy Roman Empire’s largest diocese and a sword-making center. Saint Stephan’s Cathedral, home of the world’s second-largest cathedral organ, is one of Passau’s favorite attractions.

This is a great place to stop for lunch or afternoon tea just off a main shopping street in Passau. We first frequented this venue as students from the UK and it has been great to come back with our family. There is a nice variety of cakes and the walled garden at the back is delightful. The owners and staff are friendly and I thoroughly recommend this cafe.

I wrote a review of this place a while ago and was recently there again. Customer service was really above and beyond, which is why I'm writing another positive review. One of my friends was recently here visiting. She's a vegetarian with celiac disease and we had plans to spend a day wandering around the old town. I asked friends for recommendations for places that would actually have options for my friend, in the old town and elsewhere, and the answer was consistently Esskultur. I contacted the restaurant over Facebook and they responded quickly - yes, they would be able to serve us.The restaurant changes its menu monthly, and on the day my friend was there, there were only a few options for her. But the owners were there and asked if we would be willing to give them free rein in the kitchen. The chef came up with a delicious, filling bowl that kept us going for the rest of the (cold) day of sightseeing.I really appreciate the effort that the restaurant made and the food was also tasty, as per usual. I will definitely continue to come back.

Farmstead isn't too far from my office, so I've been a couple of times now; I just got back from eating dinner there with my partner. The focus is on higher-end sandwiches and salads (â¬6.50-10 or so, with a side of fries, salad, or soup an extra â¬2). Service is fast-casual - you order at a counter, they cook your food and bring it to you, you put the trays with dishes in a cart when you're done. The positives: I haven't branched out much in terms of trying dishes but the dishes I've had have been tasty. I spent my teenage years in the American South, where my parents still live, and their pulled pork (Louie - which comes with young leeks, apple slaw, and barbecue sauce) and fried chicken (Jackson - fried chicken cutlet, broccoli slaw, and truffle-garlic mayo) sandwiches are fine in my book. My partner loves pulled pork and thinks the pork on the Louie is almost as good as the pulled pork we get when we visit my parents. The chicken on the Jackson could be a little crispier and the garlic mayo and mayo in the broccoli slaw is a little overkill - if I order it again, I'll try it without the garlic mayo. But the chicken is well-seasoned. The fries are also yummy - somewhere between a thin fry and a steak fry, crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, with skin on the potatoes. Portion sizes are also decent. If my partner is hungry, he can easily eat two full entrées with all of the trimmings but at Farmstead, even if he's really hungry, he can't finish more than two sandwiches and an order of fries. Now it's time for the negatives. Staff seems to be nice but every time I've gone, the kitchen has forgotten to put something on the tray. Be prepared to keep your eyes open and ask for whatever it is that the kitchen forgot. The restaurant only serves Fritz-Kola products and I haven't (yet) found a Fritz beverage that I've enjoyed. Also, the restaurant's motto roughly translates to "from the country to your hand" but there is no indication as to where the products were sourced, whether they are organic or not, etc. If I specifically knew that I was eating food that was organic or local, I'd say that the prices are OK. Because I don't know where the food is coming from, I think the prices are a bit on the high end for fast-casual food in Passau.

Stopped by here for a quick treat after the Cathedral Organ concert. I selected a dozen different chocolate candies, most of them with liquor on the inside. The young woman at the counter was very helpful. We had a little bit of language issues, but that's only because I don't know German very well. The candies were great. We also purchased pistachio ice cream cones. I think the ice cream was home made too. They were certainly tasty.

Early January 2015 I discovered "Caffè Bar Centrale" in Passau by chance and I was delighted to find this glamourously decorated little bar full of character. It's a little piece of Italy - beautiful Venice in particular - transported to Bavaria. Well done!!!

Benvenuti! Dito's Gustoria is no restaurant but no "fast-food" restaurant either. We passionately serve 100% Italian street food. Delicious, fresh and healthy. Experience Italian food culture and lifestyle in the heart of Passau.
Once again, Tripadvisor helped us find this great place. A very small restaurant, offering really wonderful Italian dishes. Wewere there for lunch and would return again and again.

A cosy place, friendly professional service also in English, friendly customers (a family changed into a smaller table to give us room), good food (but no gourmet), verstaile menu. We had a nice evening! Besides, the address Rosengasse is a perfect address for everybody who has read Onneli ja Anneli, a well known Finnish childrens book, now also in a film. A perfect address even if the real address, the side of the door of the cafe, was Grabengasse...

This is a perfect place to relax for awhile over a glass of wine or a coffee. Friendly, English speaking staff. Fresh flowers and lit candles throughout make this place warm and cozy. Free WIFI and clean restrooms. They make their own pear and apple brandy from the Black Forest which is excellent and not overpriced. They have food too- fresh. Meats and desserts look wonderful. Great find.
