This place is quiet, relaxing, has places to sit and be served as well as places to lounge and read. The food is fresh and the portions are generous. The staff is ever friendly and helpful. You will return. The bookstore can order any book you are looking for. They also have a nice coffee bar and gifts.
Stopped in on our way back from Gainesville. Was looking for lunch, but saw they served breakfast all day, so we went that direction. Daughter had an apple danish and a croissant breakfast sandwhich. She enjoyed both, but raved about the danish. I had their biscuits and gravy with some cheese grits. Both were pretty good, and the grits were definitely not instant. Wife had a lemon cranberry muffin and sausage/egg/cheese biscuit. Definitely a worthwhile stop, and will go again when we travel through.

We had our boat moored at the marina at Crystal Cove. We ate breakfast there every morning. The Eggs Benedict, the Belgium Waffles, and their Sunrise Breakfast are off the chain good. My Husband loves the Eggs Benedict. I love the Sunrise Breakfast and Belgium Waffle, Chef Sherry's own special recipe, will melt in your mouth. She also has a great breakfast burrito that will feed at least 2 people. I would recommend you stop by they are open at 6 for breakfast.

A little slice of Saint Augustine in Downtown Palatka!
We have always been about good homemade biscuits which, at one time, were the backbone of any decent southern restaurant. I asked our waitress Krista (embroidered on her apron - she didn't introduce herself) if the biscuits were homemade. She replied that "they are baked fresh everyday" - gotcha. I was starving so I missed a classic bait and switch. The biscuits are baked at the location everyday but the frozen dough must come from Detroit. The cold, dry biscuit was clearly not homemade. The place is cute. The service prompt but chilly - not a 'hi y'all' anywhere to be found. There was something off in the flavor of the grits and the eggs. An off taste of old cooked onions. Couldn't quite figure it out but the taste was off-putting. Really wanted to love this little place. We miss our favorite breakfast place of all time - The Magnolia Cafe in Austin TX. Maybe these folks should head out to Austin to see how it's really done.
