Reviews on Cafe food in Northern Cape, South Africa. The Northern Cape (Afrikaans: Noord-Kaap; Tswana: Kapa Bokone) is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. It also includes the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. The Namaqualand region in the west is famous for its Namaqualand daisies. The southern towns of De Aar and Colesberg, in the Great Karoo, are major transport nodes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. In the northeast, Kuruman is known as a mission station and also for its artesian spring, the Eye of Kuruman. The Orange River flows through the province, forming the borders with the Free State in the southeast and with Namibia to the northwest. The river is also used to irrigate the many vineyards in the arid region near Upington.

Travelled all the way from Upington to Kakamas for day visit to waterwheels, old tunnels, historic first SA hydro-electric building. What a disappointment to find all these sights inaccessible on private property and the government establishments closed and rundown. All these were sighted as points of attraction on most internet searches. Pathetic! And then the Rose Cafe, where we licked our wounds and left totally healed in mind and body. Congratulations on your establishment! Quality, friendliness and warmth, tasty and tasteful! Do not drive past!
Alongside the N1 road you'll find a unique and stylishly renovated building situated on a working karoo farm. Enjoy a selection of speciality coffees and freezos, freshly pressed juices, farm bread toasted sandwiches, lightly toasted wraps and a variety o
We stopped in here recently on a road trip from Knysna to Bloemfontein as i needed a coffee and a bite to eat. Having only just opened the week before [and being only a couple of kms from a soulless superstop this was a haven to behold. As it had just opened the menu was a little limited whilst they find their feet but the fresh brewed coffee [with extra shot to wake me up :)] and a toastie hit the perfect spot.My daughter loved the little play fort you have there and esecially liked the frozen milkshake type thing. The owners were especially friendly coming out to say hello and indeed they took my wife and daughter to meet and feed their pet alpaca's which my daughter still goes on about two weeks later.Best of luck guys - if we are ever back in SA on that long dusty road trip we will be sure to look out for you. All the best Tim, Elsa and RaphThank you so much Tim, we really appreciate your wonderful review. It was such a pleasure having you and your lovely family- we look forward to seeing you when youâre next down in SA! All the best

We visited after a referral from friends who recommended Diamond T's melk-tert, a popular local dessert, directly translated as milk-tart. How glad we were to discover this country style gem somewhere between Upington and the Kgalaghadi Trans-frontier Park, in a tiny hamlet named Askham in the Northern Cape. It was early, brunch-time, so we each ordered a toasted egg, bacon and cheese accompanied by a cappuccino. The service was quick, the coffee was (sort-of) fine, but the sandwich, wow! This was a triple decker consisting of three slices of roast with what can best be described as a double filling and cost R 55. The food was lovely and freshly made. If I was to dig deep for a criticism, I think real cheese would be an improvement over the cheese spread that was used. I put this down to delivery logistics because Askham has to be located in one of the quietest spots in the world! Take time to walk around, look at the home-made goodies in the small shop and appreciate the old-time decor, well worth a visit.
