Reviews on Cafe food in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The shrines and temples of Nikko have been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Here, you can visit the Toshogu Shrine, which dates from the 17th century and is a monument to (and the mausoleum of) Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of a shogunate that ruled Japan for 250 years. Travelers day-tripping from Tokyo generally focus on the sacred sites, but if you have extra time, explore the area’s beautiful waterfalls and lakes.

We had walked for kilometres around Nikko and were more than ready for refreshments. Cafe Fleur provided that. The coffee (individual drip method) was excellent and together with the toasted cheese and toasted ham sandwiches was just what we were looking for. The owner did everything, from taking orders to food preparation. As the cafe filled, he calmly continued single-handedly. It's in close walking distance to both railway stations.

R Mart, a new style store just in front of Tobu Kinugawa Onsen Station, offers a convenience store with wonderful selection of souvenirs, fresh-baked bread ï¼ brewed coffee !
If you are in Kinugawa Onsen looking for a good, pleasant and relaxing breakfast with cappuccino and freshly baked croissants, you can find them in this minimarket. Kind and smiling personnel, few tables outside to enjoy the sun.Other specialties are icecreams (I tried the chestnut flavour, it was the right season) and a vast selection of cakes and typical pastries.Nowhere in Yokohama,Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima I found a cappuccino as good and creamy as this one!Italian guarantee!
House Toki sits next to the Tachikikannon Entrance gateway over the road to Lake Chuzenji. The cafe has a spectacular view over the lake and mountains beyond. The interior is comfortable and modern, with both tables and couches to lounge on. In summer (I visited when it was -2 outside) I imagine the desk is rather popular too.The coffee (Cafe Latte) was excellent and came with a complimentary little marshmallow, filled with some sweet sticky paste. No idea what it was, but it tasted good. The pizza toast I ordered was also tasty. Service was fast and typically Japanese-polite.

Walked all the way down in snowy weather to the Tobu Railway Station from the shrines (1.5km) to find this little haven of sweet goodness. You can't miss it, it is on the left side of the station as you approach. We had hot chocolate and English Breakfast tea with our pumpkin pudding and custard pudding. Oh wow, they were so yummy! A bit like creme caramel but not so sickly sweet like you get 'em in the west. Wished the drinks were in larger cups though but I guess this is the Japanese portion size. We could have drank 3x more the volume! But it was totally worth it, just people watching and savouring our puddings as the snow fell gently outside. We will make sure to stop again on our way home tomorrow!

We tried the dango, oshiruko and matcha. All of them were delicious and cute. The warm dishes in the middle of the snow and in front of the waterfall is just beautiful. Amazing experience

About a hundred metres away from Nikko Senhime Monogatari where we stayed for two nights. Fantastic ambience with soft lighting and old / slightly eclectic music playing softly in the background. Offers combinations of coffees/teas + cakes which do not come cheap but are very well made and put together. A wonderful place to sit back and relax while overlooking the main Nikko street. A very friendly and polite lady owner runs the place. It is a place to slow down and absorbs in the Japanese hospitality.

We are here with a family of five. The food was all excellent--mushroom salad was divine, the rainbow trout fried was lovely. The views from up top are beautiful. The price is a bit high but I suppose that's expected at a touristy location.

Absolutely adored this little cafe restaurant. It's a 300 year old traditional wooden house set at the entrance to Nikko Park. It looks down on Nikko bridge and through the majestic cedars, the red Shinkyo bridge. The menu is quite simple with some western options and really delicious japanese desserts. Full coffee menu, all made perfectly. The interior is enchanting ... very rustic and cosy. It is nestled among huge trees and there is a pretty yard at the rear. Highly recommended.
