With the noonday temperature reaching the mid 90's I chose the beautiful oak shaded shore of Jefferson Island to enjoy my Sunday lunch.I started to cool down with a mimosa followed with a cup of seafood bisque for an appetizer. The bisque was thick and creamy and chuck full of lump crabmeat and shrimp. A bowl of this stuff could prove to be rich and deadly! My main course consisted of a 1/2 chef salad (their salads are huge!). Loaded with pieces of ham, swiss and American cheese, black olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced boiled egg, and a huge salad pepper this proved to be a great summer lunch! I chose a light raspberry vinegarett dressing which really complimented all the flavors of the salad.Surrounded on all sides by the beauty of Rip Van Rinckle Gardens while I ate made for a great experience!

I travel for work and I do enjoy a variety of foods and have been called a critic more than once. I had a chance to eat there today 5/4, and was very surprised to taste what many of us would call home cook food. The sausage, egg and cheese omelet was loaded and cooked perfectly. The French toast was a little soft but the taste was within my top 3.
Got a cake for my wife's birthday. It's been a while since we ordered one from here as we've been living elsewhere. The thing I used to LOVE about Guidry's is their cakes were pretty, which is always good, but they tasted AMAZING! Super moist and flavorful with great home made icing. The cake we got wasn't that great though. I mean, it wasn't bad, and we ate it, but it wasn't anything special and certainly different than it used to be. It was a little dry, the texture was more fine than it used to be, and the icing, while probably hand made, was no better than store-bought. We thought maybe we had just caught them on an off day or something so tried them again later and it was the same. Not sure what has changed, if it's new people or a new recipe, but I REALLY wish they'd go back to what they were doing before. This was always a place I bragged on when living in other areas as having the best cakes I've ever tasted, sadly I can't say that anymore.
