We were a party of 8 who came down from the mountain to enjoy lunch away from the ski resort establishments. We were very pleasantly surprised at our dining experience. The setting is charming and the waitress was extremely hospitable and accommodating. Like many families, we are a complicated family to feed and please due to dietary and picky eaters. Each order was tailored, with the help of the waitress, to meet needs and we all enjoyed. The soups were outstanding and pannin and grilled cheese sandwiches delicious.
We had hazelnut-chocolate croissants, raspberry muffin, danish and coffees, and they were sooo good, we ordered some other stuff to go, as the place was closed for the following 2 days we were staying in Wintergreen Resort. So we ordered one Mediterranean salad (very, very good), 2 rosemary, sea-salt focaccias, 2 apple and cinnamon cones, 2 danish, 1 tiramisu' and 1 coconut pie and they were all absolutely delicious!!!I wish this place were a bit closer than the 850 miles from the place we live! Congrats to Lisa, she is incredibly gifted and her pastries show how good she is! Brava!!!

We were staying for three nights at the Wintergreen Resort 7 miles up the mountain. The only place available for breakfast there was only offering an expensive buffet, so we asked around and was told this was a good spot. That is an understatement! We drove down each morning (three in a row) to start our day here. Very good food, and nice service. Sit inside or out, your choice. Reasonable prices too. I highly recommend it to you if you are in the area and ready for breakfast!! Located inside Devil's Backbone Brewery (yes that's correct!), but it is in a separate building all on it's own.
Gourmet ala carte dine in or carry out. Wine, beer and cider available by the glass. Emphasis on small-batch and local products.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Small but good selection of light dishes. Nice little deli section. Great selection of worldwide and Virginia wines at fair prices. Occasional wine tastings, found out there are some very good wines from Texas. Come in for a nice coffee or glass of wine on their outdoor patio, weather permitting.Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
