Letter of ComplaintTo: The ownership and management of Wolfgang Puck Café and Restaurant,Last night (August 16, 2012) was my 75th birthday and my wife Toshie and I were looking forward to a wonderful dining experience and an enjoyable evening at Wolfgang Puck here in Nagoya in the Nagoya Performing Arts Center. We had chosen Wolfgang Puck as the place to go for this occasion because it was recommended by a student of mine who is employed by MUFG Bank here in Nagoya. Before going however, I wanted to see for myself and visited the café one week earlier. At that time I had lunch which was quite delicious. I also met a hostess named Kumi Tanaka who was very friendly, personable, and helpful. Kumi was also kind enough to show me the main dining room on the next level which I appreciated. Because of my studentâs recommendation and because of Kumiâs excellent service, I decided to make a reservation to go there for my birthday dinner. What happened next was a real disaster. We had reservations at 6:00 and arrived a few minutes before the hour. We then were shown upstairs to the main restaurant by the host. As soon as we got there, the waiter immediately directed us to the counter area where we would have to sit next to each other and not across from each other. I explained that my wife had requested a table. The one table that I thought to be ours had already been give to three people who had arrived only minutes before us. Iâm referring to a table booth. There were no other table booths available as there are only two, and the other one was already occupied. Therefore we were seated at the far end at a round table with chairs having only one arm, not two. Please keep in mind that there was one waiter (only one) to wait on the other two tables/booths of customers along with my wife and I.Even so, we were somewhat satisfied with our seating arrangement and the view looking out was scenic. Because this was a nice dining area, I assumed that the waiter would bring us water which he did not. I have to take medicine before each meal and I asked him for some water. As it turned out, I had to ask him twice before he bought the water. By that time, I had already drunk half of my beer that I had also ordered and that was brought almost immediately. We then took our time looking at the menus, but it was really too much time. It was like the waiter completely forgot we were there and almost ignored us in order to take constant drinks to the other customers seated in the front area. Because we were in the back, and a pillar blocked our view, we could not see the waiter and had no way to contact him. We just had to wait and hope he showed up. He was extremely incompetent in taking care of our needs and waiting on us.Finally we ordered. My wife ordered the chilled summer vegetable, Szechuan beef satay, and a Caesar salad. I ordered Prosciutto e grissini, and a grilled New York steak MEDIUM RARE. I also requested mashed potatoes be substituted for French fries. Within a very short period of time, my wifeâs Caesar salad was put in front of her. My gosh, that was much too early. Usually a salad is served and eaten right prior to other dishes. Before the salad, her chilled summer vegetable should have been served. But no, she had to wait about 20 minutes or more prior to the vegetable being served. Thirty minutes after the Caesar salad was served to her, my steak finally arrived. I had complained earlier to the waiter that it was taking much too long of a period of time. When I cut into the steak (I had the waiter wait) I couldnât believe it. It was WELL DONE!!! The waiter looked in disbelief when I refused it and told him that I wanted another one cooked the way I had ordered it. I also tasted the mashed potatoes and they werenât hot; they were luke warm at the best. At this point I was getting angrier. We again waited and my wifeâs summer vegetable and the Szechuan beef satay arrived at the same time. I waited another 25 minutes before my steak arrived. The steak was cooked MEDIUM RARE correctly at this time. Oh, 15 minutes before my steak arrived the waiter brought me a plate of mashed potatoes. I couldnât believe it. The potatoes should have been served with the steak together; not separate and not 15 minutes apart. Yes, again the potatoes werenât hot; they were luke warm.I couldnât believe how incompetent the waiter and the cook were in the preparation of the food. The waiter did not wait on us as a truly competent and well trained waiter would have. For all the hype and positive reviews that people had given me about Wolfgang Puck, I was in disbelief at our terrible dining experience. As a result I will never eat at the restaurant again, and I will let all of my friends and students know of the bad experience I had and will recommend that they donât go to Wolfgang Puck for dinner. A truly horrible experience.I donât expect you to do anything about this complaint which is the Japanese way; just overlook it and pretend it didnât happen. Well, it did happen and I expect some type of apology and letter from the main office management out of Tokyo. My phone number and fax number are the same. Thanks to the horrible waiter and cook, my 75th birthday dinner was ruined.Cordially,Robert BoyerNagoya, Japan

Usually Western style coffee shop in Japan will offer similar breakfast set, here is no exception. Toast, cream, potato salad and coffee. The price here is really cheap and cozy place. But I wonder why there are so many people smoking in the breakfast time; but smoking area is divided from nonsmoking area.

After grabbing some Miso Katsu at Yabaton across the road (miso katsu is a must-have in Nagoya), we popped into Pierre Marcolini (A Belgian chocolaterie) in Midtown Square for dessert. It was late, just in time for last orders, and the cafe section upstairs was closed. But, we just wanted some gelato or sorbet, no problem. To start with I had a scoop of hazelnut praline and a scoop of chocolate. My girl had the framboise sorbet which was so amazingly good, I couldn't take the arm twisting and had to get myself a third scoop of that. It's a little more pricey that what you would pay at Baskin Robbins, but it was good.

Cafe Du Ciel is a lovely venue on the 51st floor of the JR Towers offering window tables for two facing out for the best possible views. We had coffee and cakes from a mouthwatering selection which tasted as good as they looked. The coffee was served in beautiful china. This was our second visit to Cafe Du Ciel and I would recommend it for a "special" treat.

Searched for this outlet throughout the Nagoya train station and finally found it via an external stairs connected to the Esca underground mall.No queue although the place was quite packed. Did a quick order (before 11am, each coffee comes with half a thick toast with either red bean/scrambled eggs/hard boiled egg). The toast was excellent, soft and moist! Adding the red bean made it taste different but really good (similar to spreading jam).Excellent way to start the day!
