Things to do in Monbulk
This was the location for a wedding we recently went to. The setting is tranquil elegance snuggled in a rainforest. This was enhanced by friendly staff and a superb manager, Cherie, who catered to everyone's requests. Then if this wasn't enough, the food was exquisite! Thank you for an excellent venue.

Located in the majestic Dandenong ranges, we offer top notch coffee, scrumptious brunches all day and a proper english afternoon tea, enjoyed with a glass of bubbles in our fabulous gardens. Our innovative Winter menu includes grilled mushrooms & stilton,
After reading the most recent positive reviews we came here for lunch ... I wished we hadnât. The service was friendly but thatâs where the positive feedback ends. We had pumpkin soup which was too watery, chicken baguette with avocado smash but the baguette was rock hard and dry, a salad with cranberries and beetroot ... my wife found ONE cranberry and ONE tiny piece of beetroot in her salad :)To top it off my daughter had to sent her chai latte back twice... first time it was too weak, second time she got only hot milk because they forgot to put the tea leaves in the pot and the third time she got served soy chai latte instead of normal chai latte. However, to be fair we did not have to pay for the three lattes.Anyway, as locals we are disappointed that our first time visit to Brunch will also be our last. :(

This is meant to be the best home made pie cafe. Disappointing to say the least. The meat inside pie was very dry and the seasoning non existent. We tried the classic beef bergamot and beef with kidney pies. Very bland and not much meat inside. Did not finish because it was not good. People who say the pies are good must have no taste buds and very low food expectations. The atmosphere inside is dull and depressingly dark, old and worn out. The colouring pencils my son was given weren't sharpened and the sharpener was broken. If they can't get the pies tasty it's not a surprise the atmosphere is depressing and it carries on throughout the cafe. Don't bother. Get a frozen pie as there's no difference in quality or taste..

Went for luch on a very cold foggy day. Just wonderful all little seperate rooms and gas fire heated so very cosy on a winters day.The menu is very extensive so the selection is really good if you love great food. We chose the eggs with tomato on sourdough plus the vegetarian quiche with chips and salad with an Earl Grey Tea plus a Chai Tea with milk and honey. The meals were very generous. Lovely and fresh and hot on a cold day. The service was extremely friendly and attentive without being over the top and rushed.Parking is easy on the mainroad or carpark behind and the gardens are beautiful all around the house.Would be nice to walk or to sit in on a sunny day. Huge chess set in the gardens as well to play with amongst pretty foyntains and pondsWinter or Summer its truly worth a visit even just for a coffee. Total bill was $47 so good value.Really enjoyed our visit

Situated in the Dandenong Ranges on the Monbulk Road between Belgrave & Monbulk, the township of Kallista is nestled within a picturesque natural setting with historic gardens and a fresh country atmosphere. Welcome to the Kallista Tea Rooms - a beautiful
Selected as the place for a Mothers Day lunch, we found the Kallista Tea Rooms a charming place to eat.Being Mothers Day the placed was packed but it was The food selected for a Mothers Day menu was well worth the wait.A spectacular outlook among the massive gums, with birds to complete the surroundings in the comfort of the "50/60"s building. Great food attentive wait staff & a "lay back"atmosphere maks this a great venue.

Amazing Coffee, Delicious Home Baked Food and Good old Fashioned Service We also cater for Vegetarians, Vegans and Gluten intolerant people
Cafe food doesn't vary much and this cafe is no exception to that rule. Nice decor and nice staff. I only wanted avocado, toast and mushrooms so ordered from the sides menu. Added a tea and was surprised that the bill was over $20. Seriously expensive. Two other local cafes charge me $15 for the same order. It's a cafe with lots of competition so needs to remember to cater to its customers a little more. I like to treat myself to breakfast twice a week so will probably go elsewhere and save my money.

We are locals from Kallista and have always enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts, lunches, dinners, the excellent service and great atmosphere at Bernardo's Restaurant in Monbulk. Yesterday for breakfast (Thursday, 17 May) we enjoyed delicious servings of Eggs BBQ Benedict with pulled pork. The food was cooked to perfection (thanks Brendan) and the coffees were awesome (thanks Belinda !!).Looking forward to our next visit and we highly recommend this venue.

A bit of a find is the Friends on the Hill. In and outdoor dining. The waiters were friendly and quick to serve you. Inside on this cold June day the premises were warm and like the establishment name indicates, 'friendly'. There were few tables vacant and everyone appeared to be enjoying the fare. We ate outside in the cool winter sunlight as we had our dog with us, otherwise be inside. I've read the other reviews and a bit surprised with Akica. She must have got it at an off time as my visit was one where I could not complain although I did not have a meal. Just coffee and snacks including a bowl of good sized chips.I felt the venue on this occasion was probably closer to Very Good than the Average rating. I'd go back again particularly as the people inside who were eating meals appeared to have no issue with what was on their plate. It is not in the same league as Bernardo's which is about 1km away on the Monbulk-Belgrave Road. But then again Bernard's is in my view probably the best restaurant in the hills area for quality of venue, food, service and price.

Came across this place looking for somewhere to brunch .. originally we set sail for sassafras but drove 3 minutes uphill to Olinda ..The little village is sooooo cute .. donât miss out but a visit to this cafe is imperative .. Service was a bit rushed with the staff trying to please too many at once however the Chef was cool and calm when we presented him with food issues for four! Great job! Tasty food and good prices in a gorgeous mountain setting ! Wonderful end to a great Melbourne visit !Oh, and donât forget to try the potato pancakes and great chicken salad ! Tasty as ...

Popped in after the movies at Cameo for a late lunch. We were very impressed with both the service by a welcoming staff and good quality reasonably priced food. Had a side order of chips and they were as good as you can get. Coffee had good flavour and served at the right temperature. RecommendTHANK you very much for your feedback hope we see you again very soon .
