We stopped in because the sign promised fantastic food and local sake and they did not disappoint! The sake is the best we've had in Japan and the food was so good. We ordered a feast and ate every bite. Then we got some extra sake. :) Excellent service. Warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!We really appreciate your coming from US! Enjoy Matsumoto! Enjoy Japan! We stumbled upon Hop Frog Cafe by accident as the veggie restaurant we had planned to go to was closed. It looked nice from outside and there seemed to be a few vegetarian options.The place is run by a lovely couple who spent a good few years in the States, so they are really easy to communicate with in English (not a thing one can take for granted in Japan) and they're open to the idea that some people don't want a fish sauce in their food.The 'tofu steak' was delicious, a sort of an American-Japanese fusion. Really recommended. It's about 5-10 minutes walk from Matsumoto station, so if you happened to be in Matsumoto it's really worth paying a visit to this lovely family business.

The food was tasty - our buckwheat noodles in veggie soup was nice but it was very expensive for what you got. Be aware that at the end of the season they will not be running a full menu.

Discovered the restaurant in searching for places to eat in Matsumoto. Lovely bright, spacious restaurant. Had cold beer, partner had sparkling from Australia... Very cheap! Had lovely set menu seafood spaghetti, carpaccio of snapper.. Beautiful. Amuse Bouche. All reasonable prices . Pizzas looked great. This place will only get more expensive! Go now!!!

We had a lovely early dinner at this welcoming vegan cafe. I had a delicious yellow curry with quinoa rice and my husband had a tasty burrito bowl. The smoothies were also great! Everything tasted fresh, healthy and flavourful. We also very much enjoyed chatting with the cheerful and fun bilingual Scottish host/owner!

These burgers are outstanding by any measure. I had the teriyaki beef burger, which was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The cocktails, including the whisky ginger, are generous. The coconut caramel pancakes for desert were memorable and the service was courteous despite the fact that they were slammed with locals. A great way to unwind with friends in Matsumoto after a hike.

This coffee shop is an institution here in Matsumoto. They do our over coffees and have been doing it for a long time. They have an array of exquisite cakes that you can order with your coffee. This place is definitely a keeper.Iâll be back!(The Terminator)

Chris and his partner were very accommodating for our group this morning before a big ride in the local hills.While breakfast is a simple affair itâs fresh and delicious. Great coffee too.A great start to the day!Thank you very much for the great review! Glad we could give you energy for the bike ride up Utsukushigahara. It was fun talking with you and your team. I didn't know very much about biking. Anyway, hope you can find another good biking place around Japan next year, too!
